It didn't for me. It was the last part I needed to do for that one mission. Sank the 5 ships required and spent the next 2 months in game searching for her down near Plymouth. Had 4 days left until the mission was up so infiltrated the harbor to see what was going on. There she was sitting happily. Sent 4 into her, she sank, no mission credit. Yea I have heard reports like this. What happens then? How can you fulfill the requirements if she is already sunk?

I had sunk the Ark Royal while I was previously on patrol and it wasn't a mission objective. Thought it was cool at the time, then figured I might very well be screwed when it came up a mission objective later...

Luckily an unnamed 'Fleet Carrier' appeared in the same area to fulfill the requirement.

Not sure, I had only 3 or 4 days left before the mission ended and never saw another Carrier
