Is he actually reporting contacts, or just saying the words? Would be a whole different problem if he where actually seeing and plotting (for those with map plots "on").

Exactly, he say the words, but there are no contacts on the map (I use the NoMapUpdate option off) and I dont' see any contact with the periscope.

I should have mentioned in my OP that this happened to me when I was getting my ass blown ( depth charged ) off by a Task Force

I noted that when I come out of TC, there sometimes are a couple of reports/depth/speed/course verbal notification (as if there is a buffer for it when in TC)

Yes ! Maybe. I use the Stormy's DBSM sound mod. I can search here
