Running at Flank speed makes a lot of noise and if you are trying to evade an escort, he's going to latch onto you and not let go. Also, surfacing with an escort up there is not a good idea. I suppose you can pop up real quick to get everything reset, take your chances on the surface with the escort, and head back down. I thought about trying that but some RL issues popped up and by the time I got those handeled, it was too late-nothing could get me to the surface.
