Need a "not bad, and will get better with time" option.

Hey, there is no 'so so' voting option in this poll. So far, I vote 'so so'.

It needs a middle option, and it needs a neutral option ("Can't judge, don't have it").

At least wait 'till it's in a more polished state (from patches, not modders) and you've experienced it yourself, then you can rip it apart as much as you want.
At least I was honest and up front. My statements are based on what others who did purchase and try to play the game have said (even on the official forum). I've been around the block enough times to be able to say what I said in my post whether you agree with it or not. I seriously doubt any of it is exaggerated. I'm sure another patch (maybe two) will be released to try and fix the game but it will surely be the modding efforts that make SH5 reasonably playable.

But hey, say what you will.

scrapser, how could your opinion about a game you have never played be of any relevance?

even more so when you are basing yourself only on the opinion of negative, biased posters?

you should know there is usually a HUGE disconnect between the opinion of the average forum poster and...reality..

but if it will make you happier to keep posting, base yourself on my unbiased opinion:

"The game is very good, better than stock SH3 or SH4. It has some flaws and bugs, but no game killer. There are many improvements to the game code but I am still unsure whether I think the new crew management model is an improvement"

Feel free to repost that as your own to your heart's content.

If I had never played a sub sim before I would think this game was awesome, based on the graphics, which cannot be discounted, plus the AI, and full sub access. Veteran sub simmers pick out things which don't fit as well as in previous editions. Ubisoft should have produced a better sim, or at least a more finished one; but the modders have been at work and the controls,UI, morale and other flaws have been corrected. Unmodded this game is barely good but not great, with mods it is a very nice playable game. Kudos to the modders who get nothing, shame on Ubi who got my money for an incomplete product, but the bottom line is SHV is very good right now- that is IF I can log on and play. If server issues continue I'll change my vote.

I understand what you are saying and from where you are coming from you are correct. But I am not doing what you are claiming I am doing.

I'm pointing out that a large number of people have bought the game and reported dissatisfaction in their experience with it. I am not quoting them but relying on the fact that there are a huge number of posts in various forums stating the same thing. From that I believe it is safe to say there are a large number of unhappy people out there. That is not my opinion. That is a fact and I don't have to own the game of have tried it to make such a report.

My statement that the game is not finished comes from the same sources including people here at Subsim who have modded previous versions of Silent Hunter so they have established credibility. Again, this is not my opinion or judgment but simply a report of what they are stating in their own posts. In short, I am only summarizing what a lot of Silent Hunter 5 owners are saying out there in cyberworld.

But I do appreciate your position and take no offense.

Thanks

That sentence alone speaks volumes about how people experience these games and simulations. I was born before we put a man on the moon and wonder what it must be like for everyone who was born after 1969. I suppose for them it is no big deal but for me it was next in importance to having aliens land on Earth.

My first experience with a sub sim was the original MicroProse "Silent Service" for the Commodore 64 back in November, 1985. Compared to what's available today it looks like a cartoon but it was incredibly fun and I spent hours on end each day prosecuting targets in the Pacific while avoiding the escorts.

I meant no offense and I apologize if my post came off that way. This forum is starting to rub off on me, too many negative vibes around.

Erm, 60% of the community that owns the game, which is not 100% of the community.

Funny, there was no man on the moon during my lifetime, for us that were born after it's always "during my dads times, men were on the moon", which I will prolly tell my children. I will have to add that when I was young, we had passenger jets travelling faster then sound.

We took quite a few steps back in this regard.

Anyways, SHV in it's basics is a great game, period, a big thanks to the devs here. That is, as long as there is a stable internet connection on UBIs part.

It will be good if UBI doesnt cut ubi romania developer from releasing patches in few months and cutting support, just like with sh3 and sh4. But, what are chances of that ? none.

Is it just me or other players,I am very disappointed that the only playable submarines is the VIIA-VIIC41 series, but I am highly disappointed that the IXB,IXC,IXC/40,IXD2 and XXI which were in SH3 is not in SH5
