Default My Uboat decided to zig when it should have zagged

Well this may not be anything new .. but I had plotted a course to refit my boat. I had TC set high and instead of just going straight after the waypoints ran out my boat decided to do a suicide left turn right into land. I wish I got a screenshot because due to the TC it way way up on land and bouncing end to end.

Now I have to start my patrol back with 0 tonnage sunk I was doing so well too.

And ubisoft is lying .. certain bad things that can't be named do work .. and I no longer have to suffer what others do.

maybe you went backwards. If you hit back slow and have a course plotted, your uboat will turn 180° and follow its course stern ahead^^

I'm fairly certain that wasn't the case. It's hard to hit back full by accident now. Well with the defaults like I'm still using. tho I can't discount the possibility that I hit the arrow keys by accident. That would have put me into the island.

I always go down on the time compress before i get near the harbor. If i let it at 2k+ its almost guaranteed to hit land.

I've not got SH5 yet, but in SH3 and SH4 the boat can drift slightly off course sometimes......as in real life. Could that be the reason?

I always watch from the bridge close to harbor. Not only do you have to worry about the land but other ships. Sometimes other ships either don't or cannot avoid you if you keep going on your course. Better to waste 10 minutes than risk wasting 2 hours by plowing into a cruiser at 12 knots (I got up to get a glass of water ok!).

Same. I've crashed twice so far due to high compression and stuttering near land when multiple harbor ships begin to appear. Was on my way back from patrol last night, frantically clicking the return to 1x progression but it never registered. Docked in Kiel alright, about 20 feet up the coastline on land.

SH5 has many bugs, but how do you know that your sub's suicidal left turn wasn't due to errr... 'certain bad things?'
