Default Attention all modders!!!

Please put in even the smallest of auto-installers u can find, i downloaded GWX 3 for Sh3 cuz it was the only one which had an auto-installer. I suck at putting things in the correct folders etc. (im on vista so that makes things even thougher) I think Sh 5 has great potential (really) but the modders are the ones that have to make that come true. PLEASE HAVE AN AUTO-INSTALLER WITH YOUR MODS!!!

Why not just use JSGME? It has the option to revert back if any mod should crash the game etc.

You've got to be kidding me. Look, I don't want to be rude but... Why don't you give us your address and as soon as a mod is out, we'll come by and install it for you? Dude, it's just bloody copy/paste!!!!

JScones is working on a tutorial for his Mod Enabler. Not that his readme file didn't explain things enough but... If his tutorial doesn't help you...

Default Listen carefully

I see all those people posting BRILJANT MODS and all, and saying check the commands.cfg file... WHERE THE F IS IT THEN??? I checked all the Sh5 folders and i couldnt find anything like that, and for the JGSME it auto-installed with GWX so why cant people include that in their mods. it aint that hard, and it would make alot people happier...

its about as hard to properly install a mod as opening your email is

its not hard to follow the simple easy installation instructions for jsgme so read about it and do it but if that is too much to ask then i see no way people are going to buy software to create self installing mods to give you for free, it just aint gonna happen.

GWX was a self install because of how huge it was and i think it also may have replaced some files not in the data folder so a self installer was the prefered method. that said i would bet it only happened because a GWX team member already hads an install creator so it just worked out that way.

most mod not working issues is from people unzipping files directly to jsgme before looking at them to be sure they are installing the correct file instead of the whole unzipped bundle

Did you actually do a Search for commands.cfg in your SH5 folder? Did you actually do a search for "JSGME" here on the forum? To add to what Webster said, were a modding community not the "UBI Call Center for new SH players".

Who needs an installer when there are such wonderful tools like JSGME?

It's even BETTER than an auto-installer since it lists all installed mods and thus makes the management of all those mods FAR easier.

The first GWX installers were indeed created by JSCones himself
lol
You are indeed correct in that the installer also removed some items as well as overwriting others

JSGME is simple to use as long as - as you state - the mods are in the correct directory format to begin with - which of course they should be if the creator has tried them out themselves first

Use JSGME.
It's foolproof and allows you to uninstall mods should a patch interfere with it.
Also remember the modders do this for free.
It's modders that make games last forever. Without them games die off.
I am currently playing through planescape torment at 1920x1200 at 60FPS with content that had to be cut on the original release.
All possible because of modders.
Thank God for modders, that's all I can say.

I gotta agree that there really is no need for an installer. An installer would just makes things more difficult for everyone involved IMO, including the OP.

I recommend doing a little more reading. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy mod installation really is (read unzipping an archive) for this game.

Obviously you seem to be having trouble though, so why don't you start a thread outlining exactly what you are having trouble with, and I'm sure lots of people will jump in to help you out!
