Well I've had enough with silent hunter 5. Just canceled my order with mighty ape.

Too many changes to my order - collectors edition canceled on me (supplier unable to bring edition to NZ)

And then release date changed on the 4th from the 5th (24 hours) to the 12th. You would have thought the supplier would know this before the day of release.

Plus all the bad hype and negative posts. This is looking like a very shabby release.

This will probably be the last Sub sim released on any platform. You can count on ubisoft not supporting this product beyond a month or too. The major bugs will never get fixed.

And then there is the DRM. I don't mind on-line activation, or even a start up check with the base server. But to be on-line all the time is nuts for a single player game.

it is a sad note on the state of PC gaming, especially simulation gaming.

I decided to d/l via steam for about $68 NZ, and once I d/l a mod to make the SH3/4 leys work on this, I am starting to get into it tbh. Worth the $$ so far and can only get better than SH3/4 ever got with more mods and patchs.
I agree its crap that with less than 24 hrs notice we get told from Mighty Ape that date is now 12th, get another supplier I say.

Mighty Ape has always been reliable and quick for me (in NZ) - but it seems they just got shafted by their supplier.

Having said that, I'm perfectly happy with my downloaded games recently, and getting a disc delivered is starting to seem a bit archaic.

Keep us updated with your ability (or lack thereof) to stay connected to the authentication servers from NZ ISP please
I am interested to see how it goes for you.

Default DRM

So far I have had the game since March 5 (d/l via steam) and had NO internet issues at all, either here (vodafone) or with the servers at UBI
Will be interesting to see how everyone else here from NZ goes!

Ya, would be great to hear from all the SH5 playing Kiwis how the server outages have affected them. I have been holding off buying the game because I know I would go 'off the deep end' if on top of all the usual bugs of the SH series I couldn't play because of server faults.
