I come from OFP/ArmA background where you can mix up addons as you please by just using command line switch, so to me the SHx "SUPERMODS" are quite horrible thing to swallow.

There is not a single supermod that I like, but there are many supermods that has many features that I like.

It would be best to let the user decide what mods he wants to install. Starting to push supermod/combined idea in the first week of editing is not a good idea.

Well mind you, there is one important thing to keep in mind: cross-compatibility. It's not a "horrible thing" because often mixing mods results in catastrophic (but not always immediately obvious) game failures. But of course that's why JSGME is a blessing.

Personally, I think it's too early. There may be some good reasons to have a "mod collection" right now, but not too too many - I think the ground covered is relatively thin so we don't have much in the way of incompatibilities (meaning that generally people are pretty safe downloading and mixing/matching most of these mods for now), and there has not yet been a particular 'direction' to the modding effort, e.g. offering a "realism pack" doesn't quite make sense yet since we haven't begun addressing some of the major issue in it.

So personally, I'd rather wait for a patch or two and meanwhile keep tabs on compatibility between mods.

Yup. Agree 100%

I had to make quite a few edits (& merges with other newer mini mods) to my TMO 1.8 install to be completely happy with it. Not that i didn't like his work as is. It's just everyone has different opinions.

That is partly why i stopped playing SH4. I did a reformat and forgot to save my MOD folder. I really dont want to go back and make all those changes/merges again.

I'm curious to see how many people are working cooperatively on SHV mods. I see a lot of duplicates so far, such as keymap editors. Plus, SHV is likely to be patched a few times soon, so it seems a bit early to start releasing mods into the pool.

Glad there is s much interest so soon though! I think this game has the potential to see something like Battlefield's Forgotten Hope mod in the future if interest holds steady.
