its a new game so the whole damage system will most likely need adjusting, this can be easy to fix with mods so after about a month most issues like that will have fixes

Yeah, I imagine so. I'd think with that much explosive there would be nothing left!

Sounds like those immortal fishing boats or armed trawlers(Forget the specific name of boat)in SH3 that could take endless hits from the deck guns and not sink.

Except the u-class subs can send eels right back at you!

Wonder which one it was, there was only three in service in '39, Undine, Ursula and Unity.

Very cool, you may be the first Subsim guy to sink a sub in SH5

I agree, one torp should have done it, though.

Furthermore, historically, she's in the right place, in '39 the U class was patrolling mainly the North Sea, with the only remaining first series boat (Ursula) being transferred first to the Med and then to the Soviets. The other two of the first series boats were sadly lost in 1940 in separate incidents.

Thats what I was thinking. Torpedos seem to be very inefective of sinking much of anything in this game so far.

So far it has taken 3-4 torps just to start the process.

Add in duds, and you got problems.

It was not possible to sink a sub with vanilla damage model with two torpedoes in SH3 and SH4 either. Especially in SH4 where the number of hit points for a sub was nearly doubled. Therefore, I'd say that devs have probably kept similar damage system for SH5.

Yes and no.
No because I don't have my copy yet- and yes because it's a fact that ai subs can shoot torpedos in shv. I will test this today if my copy turns up later.

About the damagemodeling; it's not that bad. I could swear I'm playing RFB.

You can sink 'm with 1 well placed shot, or fire 2 at the wrong place and no joy. Flooding is modeled as well.
