"I am so incredibly stupid idiot. I could buy a nice present for my wife with this money but nooooo... instead i waste my hard earned money on this half made game that i wont play for a while."

Don't blame yourself because they released early. They were the one's doing the unethical behavior by trying to get your hard earned money before they deserved it. We are all on the same boat (no pun intended, maybe if I had said "sub") here it is a shame that this has become the economic standard, quantity over quality.

I mean how can you be blamed, SH3 was an instant classic, 4, was buggy but got fixed quick, no one could have predicted 5 would have the highest potential but fail to reach it.

Wow, what a huge surprise SHV turned out to be... ROFL. Not that people didn't point out that possibility in this forum already weeks ago... People that still had the experience with previous releases in mind.

Now, where are all the people that complained about "whiners" warning of the upcoming disaster...?

Yeah, I feel ripped off. Shelled out $60 for the pre-sale gold edition. Been a hassle ever since. I understand the need for companies to release games at some point in time, and often do the finishing in the first couple of patches. That's just part of the nature of the gaming industry.

But what happened here is ridiculous. Along with the mechanics being so off-the-charts bad. I've seen sequels done properly - just take a look at Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2. Perfect examples of well thought out, well executed and 99% bug-free releases.

There's no doubt that if I could ask for my money back, I would. And I've learned my pre-order lesson. That won't be happening any longer.

It's funny, but I feel just the opposite, even though I don't own the game. If not for 'IT' I would have bought it sight unseen, and not felt ripped off even as it seems to stand now.

SH3 had its problems. Most of them were fixed with patches, and the mods have made it a sim to remember.

SH4 had its problems. Most of them were fixed with patches. One more would have been nice. Thanks to work still being done on SH3, a lot of SH4's potential is still being ignored and I'm still hoping for the mods for that superior game.

SH5 has its problems. There has been one patch. It is looking to be more mod-friendly than any sub sim yet, and a year from now might be the game we truly want, even though 'we' means several different games.

Once 'IT' is gone I'll be buying it, so I can say with confidence that I won't feel ripped off once I have it, no matter how it turns out.

I can honestly say I'd blame their marketing department on that. I didn't see any ads, commercials, heck even blurbs in the gaming pages I go to. Well not until I saw the articles appear on the DRM issues.

To be honest found out about SH5 quite by accident while browsing the "soon to be released" section at my local Gamestop. Found this forum shortly after (And also found out about the U-Boat add on for SH4 through this forum)

I don't feel ripped off. I think I had pretty realistic expectations going in, having seen the same thing with the earlier titles. I mainly bought it early so I could fiddle with the files.

However, I did buy the Gold Edition expecting the 'strategy guide' to be what the manual should have been. The strategy guide is as big a joke as the manual. I do feel I wasted my money there.

HeLLo
Hélas, the game is unplayable out of the box with that poor manual. It's just a shame.
But, now, I've to practice and forget that poor impression.
Good luck all

Well....

Its not what I hope for, but I feel not ripped-off....

I bought Sh1 nice....

I bought Sh2 not so nice

I bought SH3 not so nice but after modders took care very playable

I bought SH4 bad, yes bad...but after modders take cair its fair....

I bought SH5 worse.....motr than worse

So how I feel?

I can not decide between:

a) stupid or
b) believe in the power of the modders....

I took b, nobody like to be stupid....

Has everyone (except Firewall who doesn't like to be included in generalisations) got brain damage leading to memory loss? SH3 was a buggy mess when it was released. Half the people playing it got CTDs when trying to auto manage the crew. The other half of the people turned on the first half and in true fanboy style ranted about it not being Ubi's fault if they didn't update their device drivers and such. Later it turned out that this game breaking side effect was in fact a bug and was patched out. Not one fanboy apologised for the false accusations of user error they may have made (they know who they are), how tragically predicatble. So no, SH3 wasn't awesome out of the box. Maybe your copy of SH5 came with some rose tinted spectacles, with which to review past silent hunter franchise history, but mine didn't.

If you think SH3 was awesome out of the box, you weren't there man!

Unless you mean by SH3 was awesome, that SH3 is awesome?

That's what I keep thinking. Anyone who has hung around here for the last few months and then went out and bought the game on day 1 and now wishes they hadn't, well, it's not like there wasn't enough scepticism here (based on what Ubisoft fed us) to warn all but the most fervent optimists.

Seems that some of the "whiners" may have got it right? Shock, horror, LOL.

More power to those who are enjoying the game though.

The problem is MODS shouldn't need to repair flaws in the game. MODS are for making the game more as you want to play it! The functionality needs to be there and not after 3 or 4 patches.

I'm gonna wait untill it's in the sales bin.
