Now, I find that UBI has forced a release of an unfinished product yet again! I don't know why they couldn't have held fire and let the dev team complete the job. It's not like they're trying to get the Christmas rush or anything.
I wasn't even impressed with SH4..... SH5 seems even worse than SH4.

I'm saving my money for DOW 2 Chaos Rising. Maybe you should save your money for something else too.

There are so many good games in the pipeline these days. We do not have to give Ubisoft a cent. And BF: BC2 is keeping me busy.

This is why I have a personal rule. I have stopped buying new games until 6-12 months after release. This way all of the patches and mods have been created and the companies like UBI are not getting my full business.

Now, I have to add to my rules and not purchase any game with this type of DRM.

we all want a finely polished sim out the box with no DRM..... but its not the 90's anymore,
its 2010 and simulators are unpopular. casual, retro & mobile gaming is where the money is at.

Such is life.
Even the PS3 and Xbox games have problems on first release. (I've got both of them lol) For instance, new game came out recently. Need to input a code to unlock content due to EA's "Ten dollar program" (They're trying to make it so you buy the game new as opposed to used)

Go to put the code in to "unlock" the rest of the game modes, place I have to do this is currently down. EA is "working on the problem but no ETA of functionality"

In other words, I have a game, that I can't play fully because I have to unlock stuff in it, and can't because the unlock server is down.

Other games have critical faults too when they release. Some of them I couldn't play at all on release day. It just seems they're pretty quick with patches on the console.

Three years, not four, and it is very playable. I still have a few complaints, but I play it all the time and have a lot of fun.

Did i feel ripped off?

Initially somewhat, but after i calmed down and kept playing no.

Are things missing and not working as intended? yes. am i miffed about that? yes.

But it's still playable, and it will only get better. If you continue to feel let down you will hate it. If you accept it for what it is and can have alittle patience while the modders & patches allow it to reach it's full potential... it is an investment worth every penny.

I dont mean to come of as apologetic for the devs... but it is what it is and im over it now.

Mods are aleady turning up to make it what it should have been.

I KNEW what I was buying when I plunked my credit card on BestBuys counter.

Anyone with decent eyesight and brains after watching videos and trailers KNEW what they were getting if they've ever played RPG\FPS games.

So What!!! Gonna whine now ?

The graphics are fine, BUT an hour thinking, searching, finding out
to use the periscope is enough for me. I did sink a ship by using the uzo.
and just 5 minutes ago i couldn`t even use that anymore.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH UBI !!!! Why don`t listening to your customers?????

Why haven`t we the commonds of sh3 ????

yes okay

m=map
ctrl page up = periscope up
ctrl page down = periscope down

and thats it.

I know alot of you guys are angry, but lets keep it leveled.
Nope... your not the only one. Which is why I didnt run out and pre-order. I did pre-order (or buy on first week) SH3 and SH4..... after SH4 I said never again.

Im hearing the same arguments and counter-arguments about the game I heard with SH3 and especially SH4.

Game is half baked and not finished (argument)

But the graphics make it worth it (counter argument)

or my favorite

If you didnt run out and buy this at release Ubi wont make the series anymore! Be Happy there is even a SH5 (another worthless counter)

Meanwhile UBI thinks the market for a good sub-sim is dried up because they didnt sell 1,000,000 copies of SH5 the first week. Selling even less than SH4 did and that was less than SH3 did.

UBI doesnt DARE ask itself WHY intial sales are lower.... they just know they are lower.

Sorry Steve.... no disrespect here....but I stopped playing SH 4 after I was dumb enough to buy the SH4 expansion.

Graphically... the sky moving at 1,000kts over me, a sub that floats out of the water in rough seas, "ghost" crewmen with missing eyes and that were translucent in fog..etc etc... was just enough to ruin the immersion.

Gameplay wise.... its OK. AI...still dumb as a box of rocks. My modus operandi is to torpedo a convoy and go right under them to avoid the escorts. The only time they are a threat is if I surface in visual range.

GWX still has my full attention when I want a sub sim that FEELS like a dangerous metal tube surrounded by 100's of psi of water and ticked off enemy above.
