I'm a Surgeon Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy, my main role in life is as an intensive care consultant and I ran the ICU in Southern Iraq for three months in 2008. Currently overseas in Australia undertaking a fellowship in retrieval medicine. My first job in the military was as the MO in HMS Victorious a British SSBN. I have a lifelong interest in subsims, back from the days of Silent Service to SH5 (bought it today!)

Im John, 32, living in Nottingham in the UK. Im originally from Sheffield, but moved down here for a job in IT Support and lived here ever since. Great City!. I have played all kinds of games since I got a VIC 20 from dad. I first got into simulator games when I started playing Birds of Prey on the Amiga. Still one of the best intros for a game!. My first Submarine game was Silent Service II for the PC. I had just EGA graphics and dreamed of having SVGA graphics that showed the Yamato on the front cover of the manual. Ever since then I have been a collector of all simulator games. I bought Command aces of the deep, then Silent hunter 1, 2, 3 and 4 when they first came out. 3 is definitely the best especially with the GWX upgrade. I might wait for abit to see what happens with Silent Hunter 5, but I am getting itchy fingers just to get it for my collection.

Aswell as playing games I am passionate about military history and have a large collection of books about this.

As you can see I joined subsim in 2003 when Silent hunter II came out and have been mostly a lurker but do post if I feel the need to. Its one of the main sites I go on just to read the posts and see if there are any new mods and information. Its a great community!.

Wow, one day and so many responses.

I hope all the rest of you will join this thread. We all talk about community, this is community at the most basic level. When we discuss this or that topic, it's much more interesting to know the people in the room, so DD425 isn't just some voice on the cyberwaves but a real person like you, maybe he's 6'5". or plays in a band, or listens to Tanya Donelly.

Thank you!

Hello everyone!
My name is Roger, 27, a swede who studies medicin in Denmark right now. Have always been into simulators and have a huge interest in history, especially military history. Did my military service as a mechanic in the Swedish Airforce, serving the new JAS 39 Multi-role jetfighter.
Im deeply thrilled with ww2, as the conflict was not that long ago and I recon we should learn from history.

My first experience with simulations was actually one of my first memories of computers; playing 'Das Boot' on my Amiga 500 as a 7 year old. From then on I've played most sublike things, Im also into flightsims and strategy. I want to be a amateur pilot at a later date, life is long enough for all kinds of dreams right?
You can see me slamming everything that I find too arcadish, I'll by the game at a later state (when DRM is gone so I can use it one my laptop).

I would love to add my bio. But it would be much of a bio without a picture. So how do i add a picture from my hard-disk? I know how to add one from the internet , just not how to add one from my harddisk.

Hi Rob. GO OILERS!!

Don't know if you are a hockey fan, but I'm a lifelong Oil fan...despite being born, bred and raised outside of Philadelphia.

Cheers!

Hi all,

My name is Dan from Sweden. I´m 29 year old and currently studing to be a teacher. First PC game I ever bought and played was Aces of The Deep on my dads 486 with 8 mb ram! Those were the days. Been mostly a FPS gamer but when I heard that Silent Hunter V would go back to roots and reading about it here I did pre-order the game. I´m been lurking here for time to time since I bought Silent Hunter IV. But now I have a account too!

Hello, my name is James, and I've played SH III and SH IV extensively, until it was replaced by Left 4 dead, then dungeons and dragons online. I've been waiting for SH5 since I heard about it a few months ago, and got it yesterday. Trying to figure out the new interface.

I'm 44, live in Maine, I'm part of a lot of online forums, and I like the feel subsim has.
