In almost all shots the guy is attacking on the surface with his laser guided deck gun

Other than that, pretty interesting angles on some screenshots there

Well, assuming the core sim hasn't been watered down, as the devs assured Neal it hasn't, I guess I'll just have to learn to live with the spectacular graphics.

Here are my thoughts on some of the pictures (picture number included with each comment):

2 - I can't imagine ANYONE, even a "casual gamer", wanting stupid-looking health bars like that. I've seen them in nearly every screenshot so far, so I REALLY hope they're not lying when they say it's optional.

4 - I like how the guys on the burning, sinking ship are just chilling out like nothing's happening.

5 - Is it just me, or does that guy have a lazy eye?

6 - I like the addition of shadows on the water.

7 - Cool smoke. I wonder what it looks like animated.

8 - "I want a deck gun with frickin' laser beams!"

9 - Looks like they kept the stupid "wavy" underwater view. If you put a camera underwater, it doesn't look like that. what are they trying to accomplish with this effect?

11 - I think the water droplets will get annoying, especially from the bridge view. Am I supposed to be wearing glasses or something? Even if it's supposed to be drops on a camera lens, I don't see droplets on the screen during movie scenes that take place in the rain, why do I see them here?

13 - Looks nice! Makes me want to run around shooting people a la "Medal of Honor."

16 - The word bubble makes it look like a screenshot from "The Sims - Das Boot edition." And why is the periscope up?

17 - Very glad to see the conning tower art!! Hopefully there will be a way to add kill flags (not sure if the Germans did that, though)

20 - I wish the water would get stirred up more where a ship is sinking

21 - Just chilling out... in the fire.

23 - "Remember Luke, the Force will always be with you..."

------------------

It seems like such a mix of really great-looking graphics, and really horrible-looking things that make you say "what the hell were they thinking?!?"

Hopefully a lot of the added, unrealistic "casual gamer" things can be removed.

Easy-kids-shooter mode, periscope is always extended because these players do not remember the buttons for up/down periscope, they only remember W, A, S, D

19. That guy on deck next to the M/gun , is he doing the Haka ?

21. If I were those 2 standing there aft Id be trying to get those lifeboats down, as for the other 2 I take would be midship? standing there with a fire and I would think explosions Id be moving, not standing like there next to a cosy pub fireside.

anyone know if the upper deck structure has an improved damage model or do rigs and cranes still fall off in one large piece as per older SHs?

I hadn't thought about that. I'll bet you're right and on the easiest mode the periscope is always up. Which would indicate the majority of screen shots are taken with all the easy setting turned on, hence all the 'arcadey' elements, like heatlh bars.

Well one good thing, looks like dynamic shadows are in fact still in the game sure hope so as that would add alot of immersion with the graphics, remember when sh3 had emm was bad ass when they actually worked right.

Crossing fingers so they dont remove em like they did the last two games
