Someone replied they are actually unseen (or barely seen) triggers for some recon mission goals, and I think that is correct. I once torpedoed this ghost ship and strange things happened. I just recommend you leave them alone and use them for what they were intended (apparently) ie, to trigger a "mission complete" goal for recon missions. |

After hit of a torpedo the aircraft carrier reduces speed and cuts a destroyer on two parts. Then both ships move without damages. (Both ships really were present before attack)

Where does one find that fog patch, Hitman? I am also looking for RFB_WDM_17Jan09, if anyone can tell me where to find that.
Thanks for doing that btw.

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=280 About RFB_WDM_17Jan09, this can only be obtained from RFB FTP server, on which you should ask Luke about. So far it only contains new sinking model for Agano, for testing purposes of the new warship damage model. So you're not missing much. |

Ok, now that I have a correct mod install, I will be updating this post with my contact reports.
Quote:
Started a brand new patrol, USS Grayback (SS-208), from Brisbane: Contact no. 1 Ship type: Medium Modern Split Freighter Time: 02:24h Weather Report: Clear Skies; No Rain; Good Visibility; 3m/s Crew sighted it at: 6,3 NM I spotted it at: 6,2 NM ... so far the patch works like advertised. ![]() Contact no. 2 Single mission: Shinano / USS Archerfish; crew spotted her ~ 8 NM, and I could barely make it out, but it was definitely visible. On previous versions of RFB I could get really close to the Shinano and crew wouldn't report a thing except radar contacts. This is darn perfect how it should be. Contact no. 3 Ship type: Hog Island Type A Time: 15:12h Weather Report: Partialy Cloudy; No Rain; Good Visibility; 14m/s Crew sighted it at: 6,6 NM I spotted it at: 6,0 NM Contact no. 4 Ship type: Medium Old Tanker Time: 21:50h Weather Report: Clear Skies; No Rain; Good Visibility; 0m/s Crew sighted it at: 5,7 NM I spotted it at: 5,4 NM Contact no. 5 Ship type: SMALL CONVOY / Sub chaser spotted first Time: 19:28h Weather Report: Partially Cloudy; No Rain; Clear Visibility; 0m/s Crew sighted it at: 7,7 NM I spotted it at: 7,5 NM Last edited by TH0R; 02-23-10 at 07:38 PM. I will fine tweak the sensors a lot more. I have already a testing program, but I must first finsih the skin for subsim's Narwhal so it can be released ASAP.
In any case, bear in mind that I will adjust both sensors and environment to the high lookouts, i.e. the guys standing in the top shears of the boat. Thus, they should always be able to see some more distance over the horizon than you, as you are standing on the bridge much lower than them.

While not a big issue, I have just encountered my first Sampans since the new RFB tweaks. S-Boat out of Dutch Harbor, July 43, calm seas.
Achieved sinkings after 3-4 deck gun rounds into the hulls, 7-8 if topside hits. I think it's a much better balance between real life 'burning with no crew' and game engine 'only sinking counts' mechanics. ![]() |

Guys I seem to be haveing some problems, and they seem to have started since the latest patch. It has to do with game saves. First off, the layout: RFB2.0, RFB latest patch. RSRD for RFB, plus RSRD patch.
I started a new campaign for Subpac in April/42. The sub is Tambor. My patrol area is the East China Sea. I start the patrol outside the harbor, and it's 12:00. Setting a course for Midway to top off my fuel, I TC (128x) at standard speed until appx. 17:55. At this time the sun sets, and the screen turns red for night. I save the game. Upon reloading, the game starts in broad daylight, although the clock still reads the presaved time (17:55), and my course lines are erased from the map. It's as though I'm starting outside Pearl again. I completely reinstalled the game, and 1.5 patch takeing care to defrag / reboot, and deleat old folders along the way. So this is a new install. Like I said, I never had a problem with a save in the past. I'm totally baffeled by this one. Any ideas? Thanks for your help. |

I have had that happen while hosing a saved game by imprudent use of JSGME.
Looks like that is not your problem. Will try your sub and date tonight. I am overdue for a patrol with RFB 2.0. More later. Happy Hunting!

Are you using JGME? I just did a clean install and I am having no issues what so ever. Map contacts are there just as they should be. Maybe you should do the same.
How does your mod install order look like? |
