Well, as of now, I do not intend to buy the game (at least until they remove the DRM anyway) but eventually I might reconsider. My biggest concerns after reading the article were:

---
"The game starts on September 3, 1939 in Baltic with interactive intro – being the first officer I am awaken by Dieter Epp telling me that the captain has asked for me. We have a little chat about that it is the quiet night before the storm outside. In a moment something shouts that they located the target. The war has started and we are ordered to sink several Polish commercial vessels and return to Kiel."
If I have to go through the exactly same pre-rendered animations and dialogues again and again, that definitely puts huge cramp on re-playability of the game. It also makes me think that you are stuck with same crew all over again (same XO, same chief engineer).
---
"
Out of curiosity I check the map to find out what is happening in the Gulf of Gdansk. The Schleswig-Holstein and the Schlesien are still moored in Gdansk and Hel. I see Bismarck moored in Gdynia (even though it didn’t enter the service, if I recall correctly, until 1940). I rub my eyes in disbelief, maybe I’m getting wrong data… "

"The same scene and the same quiet chat about the quiet calm night outside (it was stormy day and pouring down rain)…"
Another thing that I can not put up with. Factual and historical mistakes. I play games to educate myself (to certain point) and that IMO is untolerable in WW2 simulation.
---
"The crew will just calmly stand around even though the submarine is being flooded with waves of water. The ships crews do not have any algorithm to deal with their current situations. The ships are on fire, flooded and the will just stand around like they are on vacation cruise. It all spoils the final effect."
Yes, it does. I do not care how well you re-create full 3D interior of the submarine and how gorgeous are the models of the ships. That would definitely kill any immersion in the game...

Yeah, that makes me nervous too. I can live with some of the others, as they can hopefully be modded, but having the same crew over and over would be...well, it wouldn't be at all, because once would be enough.

I got tired of the limited names in SH3, which is why Commander was such a welcome addition. And there were a lot more of those.

We'll see.

Just watch the crappy Hollywood movie Pearl Harbor. Very few people these days care about historical accuracy. The just want flashy, go boom boom stuff.

i wish we can fire the torpedoes by hitting the firing lever on the torpedo tubes... and i wish the devs would model the fire button at the periscope after the firing level on the torpedo tubes.

Sh5 is "taking damage" from all previews. It is clear thet there's much room for improvement..

If what is being reported is confirmed after the game release the repetitive sequences will only act as a put off after a while.

Personally speaking if that is the case I doubt I'll watch the animations more than twice at most.
