Default Torp help

I am quite new to modding, I have opened .sim file but can't find reference to one particular type. How do I know which line deals with which type of torpedo?

Cheers for the reply by the way

US torpedo. Want to increase the overall Speed/damage to only 1 type of torpedo. Give it lets say a modern overhaul.

I only want to do this to 1 type to make things more interesting but not spoil the whole game....

Cheers. Had a Look in US_torpedo.Dat. Now I have reference to each type of torpedo but thats where it stops.
In the sub nodes I can't see any area which relates to Speed,Damage, blast radius etc....

Ok so you are going to want the Torpedo_US files. Start with the .dat file. Find the torpedo you want to change in there. Select it and look at its ID number. That number will help you differentiate between all the other torpedoes in the other files.

So first the speed settings. For this you're going to want to open the .sim file. In there select the different torpedoes until the Parent ID in the sim file matches the ID in the dat file. This is how you know you have the right one. Open that entry up and select the sub entry. This will bring up a menu on the right side with data pertaining to this torpedo. Find the entry named "Speed" in the menu, open that up and you can change the speed in there. Hit save, then you're done.

Next the torpedo damage. For this aspect you're going to want the .zon file. Just like we did in the .sim file, you need to match the Parent ID to the ID in the dat file to ensure you're editing the correct torpedo. Open like before, select the sub entry and the menu comes up on the right. The entries here have notes with them when you click on them so that should help you to enter the values you want.

Cheers, What you have explained makes perfect sense. Easy when you know how hey?

Are there any max limitations to which I may increase before the game engine gets a lip on ( Crashes ).

Not that I'm aware of. You could make a rocket powered nuclear torpedo if you really wanted.
