Thanks, mate, you

That meet and sub ride was plus-ten awesome, I doubt I will ever experience anything as cool as that again in my life.

Sorry, I know it's shaky, but emotions had me those days. The videos are a visual testimony of them, and the shaking also contributes to say how we felt about it, including myself (filming guy ). Probably if recorded on a second ocassion, it might not be as shaky.

Cheers

Ah, these vids bring back great memories (and slightly painful when I stalled the sub's engine. Thank you for not leaving that out ... ). What a meet! When is the next one due?

Hahahaha, sorry about that... but it was a priceless moment (just as the failed docking was hehe), like about anything on that day, it contributed to realism.
Though, honestly, I didn't notice you stalled it when I rendered the videos, it wasn't really done on purpose.

The next one, well, I got lucky and I was able to work on the videos without being bothered all day... these last days, not so much... anyways, I hope it isn't long before I put the last videos (all that lasts is footage from the 19th and I don't know yet if it will be one or several parts, and Dan's headcam über-videos, though I didn't have plans for that one, there's too much stuff to cut).

Cheers

Going over 'the docking sequence' again, something occurred to me: the name submarine simulation may not the best one chosen for the games we play. Allow me to explain.

When someone practices enough with a flight simulator like MS Flightsim, one could actually not only get a plane up and running but with a fair amount of certainty get that baby up in the air and most likely down again as well. And I mean down as in safely landed in one piece, not the kind of down that gravity itself so happily provides.

And a few people who have been using racing simulators for a number of years, have been able to make a pretty decent attempt at a racing career. It's not likely they'll be the next Indy or Daytona 500 champion at their first attempt, but still: they can handle a racing car pretty well.

When watching us however, the Subsim crew, on average (yours truly sadly not included) adversaries not to be taken lightly when it comes to operating the various submarine simulations, trying a brave attempts at operating a sub, giving engineering a futile attempt (yours truly undeniably included), throwing around landlines, etc.

Well, I doubt that showing these vids to a sub commander will help us getting a job aboard a submarine that much easier.

Yeah, they'd probably tell us we've seen Das Boot too many times.
