This recall has really tarnished Toyota. Some people were pulling the wool by advising Toyota owners to remove the floor mat and also cut the pedal. Nonsense. Toyota was grasping for straws. Furthermore the issue has been known since 1999. What is a few lives in the name of profits? Then we come to find out the Prius has a brake software issue. Also known since 2005. WTH Mr. Toyota? I think we are watching a company begin the decline of quality by using inferior parts. It is catching up to them. At any rate, the Toyota owners are lawyering up for emotional discourse, lost time at work and wrongful death. This is not over by a long shot. To add to the grim days of Toyota, this week Toyota is scheduled to be grilled by Capital Hill. I wonder if the Toyota representatives will arrive in a Toyota or a Ford?

But you know what, despite all of this, I would, hands down, buy another Toyota over a domestic car.

Don't write them off too early. This is a Japanese honour thing now, since the head of the company excused in public, which means accepoting a great personal shame. That has a different meaning than the babbling of a Westerner who says he "feels sorry". They have lost their face, they will try to get it back. They will be even better once this crisis has been left behind.
Heck, you can eat your lunch from the floors in their factories.

I will stick with Toyota. Never had a problem and I am driving our 4th Toyota. Now, if I were in the market for a truck, I would consider a domestic truck. Trucks are what American manufacturers can build well. ![]()

I have had plenty of Fords. No problems. Had two GM products that sucked badly. Knock on wood as I had a lot of cars but only two that were really piles of crap. I have only owned one Japanese car. Geo Storm GSI. Good car but I stuck with American manufacturers after that. Just in my blood I guess. ![]()

One reason I never really liked asian cars, and will almost always stick to american/european cars (when I get one. lol) is that alot of them are smaller... my main issue with that...
1 when you get in a crash with a large american suv/pickup truck, or some of the large european cars, you arnt as safe... (IMO) 2 I cant fit in most.... when your over 6ft tall, those things are horriable... I tryed driveing my mothers Isuzu Rodeo, and my knees were up in the steering wheel. ![]() and the fact getting out of the back seat is a hassle...lol I have to fight to get my shoes out (size 12 to 13 currently.)

Toyota's here in Australia have a good rep overall, but the Hilux crew cab ute that my father in law owned was poorly put together. It was made in Thailand by the way. |
