It will be one hell of a massive patch if they do lol. These DRMs are not things like Starforce that are tagged on at the end, the entire game is built around a log in, all account info stored on their server, basis. It would be a massive re-write.

neoqb managed to kill off most talk of the DRM and Ubi could do it too. Wait until just before release then tell everyone they are releasing other subs, but you have to pay for each one to be unlocked in your account. Nobody will talk about DRM anymore lol.

If it has stopped you I would not buy it yet lol. Lefty posted that in Dec, it would take a long time to make such a fundamental change to the game structure I believe.

Also, I do have access to a "News From the Inside" section of the ROF forum open to devs, publishers, moderators, beta testers etc. I obviously can't tell you what I DO see in there, but I can tell you what I do NOT see, and that is any talk of it coming out any time soon.

RoF's "News From The Inside" tell perhaps 50% of what is in actual and future development .... LOL

Yep, ROF might be my first flight sim. They are obviously bleeding dollars over the DRM, though.

Well you picked one helluva title to begin with.

It's not exactly noob friendly

Of course all I have seen is the demo and even that was a pita to install due to online verification.

By the way what does "offline SP" mean? Single Player? The game is predominatly single player.

No, RoF is multiplayer as well. But now it lacks dedicated servers. Those are under development (official news) and should be available in the next months.

Actually RoF needs online connection even for single player session. In the near future this DRM should be drop. Thanks to players complaints.

Yea, Offline Single Player. I have no problem with connecting to a serval frequently in general. In fact I buy games on STEAM as a first choice. But the necessity to is a big problem for me. Hurricanes and crap like that can cause long internet outages. During Katrina playing Silent Hunter and Dangerous Waters is what kept me sane. Something SHV would appear unable to do. Simply because a bunch of corporate suits want it that way. Screw them, I vote with my wallet. If I decide to buy SHV it will be the only series I buy containing this crap.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why there's "No Complainning" at the RoF site.

I understand you can't even join unless you've bought the game.

yes, supposedly in the next patch (if the rumors are true). We've been asking for it in the forums there for a while and even though it's not a big deal needing to sign in, its still a nuisance

Wrong, there was/is a lot of complaining about the DRM but developers are listening and learning. As a matter of fact they'll drop the DRM for offline playing. It has been announced unofficially.

Wrong again. Just register with your e-mail and password. Those will be the same you'll use to play.

Now, what about the genious?
