Default Obama to nationalize Student Loans

Quote:
1.20.10 - (CNSNews.com) – A bill currently before the Senate would empower the Obama administration to nationalize the student lending industry, eliminating the federally subsidized private loans millions of university students rely on to finance their educations.

Yet another takeover of a private venture.

Free education for all. Peace, land, bread.

hopefully the Massachusetts revolution continues for the mid-term elections and obama will have more time to play basketball, than turn us into cuba.

It does not appear that Obama will see a second term.

And Bush 41 had an over 90% approval rate a year before the '92 election.

Wishful thinking won't make it so.

Sorry. Not a Bush fan either.

No wishful thinking here. I get to watch the whole show, from the outside looking in.
Therefore, I can look at Performance, rather than Party.
Neither "side of the aisle" is very impressive of late.
Perhaps more parties, and more choices is a solution.

You know i dont see this as a stuggle of Dems vs Rep I see it as liberal (progressives) vs conservatives.

What is needed is for the traditional conservative party to return to conservatisim.

So they already pay for most of it and guarantee all bad debts anyway.
Doesn't that mean that its a government venture already and was since its creation.
So the plan is to eliminate the middle man to reduce costs...yeah bad idea , I can see why the fiscally conservative would object to that.

Excellent bill. There is no need to subsidize the profits for a private student loan enterprise. Remember H.R. 3221, the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act only covered federal loans. The loaning institutions can still make their profits out of some state and all private student loans.

This is a good bill. It has an end date (2014), all excess monies will be applied to the Federal Debt, and no congressional earmarks can affect this budget. .

And best of all, participation is voluntary! The debt forgiveness for deployed military is a good and needed benefit.

Of course your druggie students won't like this bill but I don't really care about them.

Totaly removing the government from the process would seem the better choice.

Good point, having the government involvement means that people have to pay for other people.
If it was just the banks involved it would mean that people would have to pay for other people.
Now I can understand that there may be preferences as the government has a history of screwing up, blowing lots of money and robbing people blind, whereas the banks just have a history of screwing up, blowing lots of money and robbing people blind.
Its so easy to differentiate between the two options isn't it.
