Have had that happen in the North Sea, but I wandered into a minefield.
Never have I run into mines in BF 17 or anywhere on the West side of England before in 1939-41. Always a good place to hunt. Did you get too close to the merchants when they exploded. I lost part of my gun crew once due to this.
