Will give it a shot.

Spoke too soon... I added some of the DX files that were missing and it loaded up one of my old careers, however when I exited to come report the good news it seems to have re-ended my careers. I noticed every time I select exit game it CTD's as well.

Still need help here, I moved the SH IV folder to the "Games" folder on Partition C instead of the program files. This made a slight improvement, but it's still a 50|50 shot of whether or not it loads.

Sound.Act is the cause of crashes during loads. I think I'm gonna pick up a new sound card tomorrow, so a nice one for not too much. Whether or not it fixes the problem it will still be a nice addition over the built in sound.
~ Side note, game works 100% fine before TMO goes in.

~Update SHCollisions.act causes crash during fleet battles, I think it's whenever I get hit

at this point i think its fubar and uninstall the game, delete any leftover files then do a fresh new install into the "games" folder in the main ""c" drive/ games" directory and not in the ""c" drive/ programs files" directory

then run the game

I'll try to save that for a last resort, I've had a lot more success doing two things; Deleting the Gramophone folder completely (Not sure if this fixed anything, but more success loading games), increased the 3d audio channels( reduced my crashes). I got a sound card today, I've been using on-board hd audio for the 750i nforce board series. If I still have crashes I'll go ahead and pull the plug and try again.

check the sound files and any that are large delete them or move them to a folder for safe keeping. Load up SH4 and see what happens.
Might be completely different problem but i saw 'sound.act' in your error, got a similar type of crash so checked the sound files and found two files sized 11mb and 6mb. I edited them with a sound editor cut the size down to 3mb and 1mb. Crashing stopped.

Sorry if this turns into a double post, the sites been slow for me today. I'm gonna go with fresh everything, even though I did before all of this started. Then I'll tackle the sound files if it keeps up. Thanks for the tip.
