Keltos, we def want Japanese voices and language in mod, but if possible with english translation in the dialogue box at top, like in u boats when they use german, things are put into english in texas.

I plan on trying the Russian mod as is in Russian until someone is able to translate it into english, should be a challenge, hell perhaps I will learn some Russian

Thanks all!

Certainly. If the computer has no font "Cyrillic": it is delirium of the abstract artist!
Please look this site:

http://www.starr.net/is/type/kbh.html

Russian fonts for SH:

http://www.six-oceans.ru/files/Fonts.rar

If there will be a font it is possible to look Russian forums. Because questions for all identical. There there are answers. But it is necessary to use on-laine translator. Though these translations: delirium of Lev Tolstoi and Mark Twain simultaneously.

Thank you Poul, Dagon, and everyone else that made this mod.

So much fun, yet so many mines

Six hours of playing and i still can't get out of the Gulf of Finland without hitting a minefield - very challenging.

Are there any maps of minefields in the Baltic sea during WWII? I looked on the internet, but couldn't find much information. Thanks.

Yeah - Im having this problem.
I used an online translation service to translate the Battle for the Baltic readme into English.
It reads a bit funny, but is understandable.
Gives good info on flotillas, subs, minefield locations etc.
Armed with this knowledge I'm going to go back and try and get to my patrol area.
The English readme is here if anyone is interested.

I'm am working to translate the mission orders into English at the moment.
But I don't speek Russian so it is slow work.
Probably going to take a few days.

Many thanks to the team that made this mod. Very interesting, I'm really enjoying it. Good work BFTB team

As a guy from Finland, this is very interesting modification. I hope it is playable
for me i.e. I don't speak Russian at all.

Have to download and give it a try, thanks for the MOD.

Couple of years a go I did work on Finnish minelayer Hämeenmaa:

Just some plumming work but it was very interesting ship anyways.
...it was rather mild winter then, now its freezing cold...

If you want to add some new WW2-era Soviet subs to this mod think about:

- Leninets-class
- Pravda-class
- Katyusha-class

All of them served in the Baltic Fleet during the war.

PS. How wide was access to 53-39 and ET-80 torpedoes during the war? Weren't they only some kind of propaganda weapon while Soviet subs carried only torps of 53-38 type?

Well I also found this data:

- dimensions: 533x7200 mm
- weight: 1615 kg
- speed/range: 44.5 kt/4 km, 34.5 kt/8 km, 30.5 kt/10 km
- warhead: 300 kg

These were standard surface and submarine air-steam torpedoes in service at the outbreak of World War II. They were exported postwar and their successors survive, probably on board Romeo- and Foxtrot-class submarines. They also formed the basis of the first Chinese-made torpedoes. Data above are for 53-38. Running depth was 5-13 m.

The 53-38U was an improved version:

- dimensions: 533x7450 mm
- weight: 1725 kg
- warhead: 400 kg

The improved 53-39 entered service in July 1941. It had a more powerful engine and increased air and fuel (kerosene) capacity, and a new MO-3 gyro adjustable for angled fire (0 to 90 deg port or starboard). Data:

- dimensions: 533x7488 mm
- weight: 1780 kg
- speed/range: 51 kt/4 km, 39 kt/8 km, 34 kt/10 km
- warhead: 317 kg

Among several major wartime modifications a magnetic proximity fuze (NVS) entered operational service about 1943.

The 53-39PM (which entered service 1949) was a pattern-running version, probably based on the wartime German FAT.

You can find the Russian fonts in the "English Campaign BFTB v2" at http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1498.

Once you extract the mod they should be in your "BFB English Campaign v2\Data\Menu\Fonts" directory.

I haven't tried extracting just the fonts from the mod, so it would be great if you could report back and let everyone interested in this mod if extracting just the fonts worked for you.

Thanks.

I know that the Russian subs of the period had only a rudimentary fire control system. It is probably to simulate that. They cannot transmit gyro angles to the torpedoes.
You have to aim by turning the boat, like a WW1 sub.
Easiest way to do this is use the TDC to set up a zero gyro angle shot.
Or use a lead angle calculator like this http://www.couscouscrabcakes.com/okane.html
I know the Russian 53-58 torpedo goes either 30.5 or 44.5 knots.
Or just estimate it and fire a spread along his track.
Sure makes things challenging!
And I was pulling my hair out until I figured the torps do not turn!
Good luck

EDIT:L There is also an electric torpedo, the ET-80 available after 1943. This goes at 29 knots. I do not know if this one is capable of turning after leaving the tubes.
God I was trying to find how the torps work, I know why now ! Thanks for your precision ^^
