We had an 'office' cat. She hung around the office and we fed her and gave her water. I wanted to bring her home but my two established cats would have revolted.
Anyhow she was very friendly to the point of rubbing against my legs, letting me pick her up and so on. I truly believe she was an abandonded pet. She would hang around the office all day sometimes just sitting staring in the door watching us go about out buisness. Today she dident show up for 'breakfast' I dident find it all that unusual since the weather has been nasty with rain since last night. When the rain let up I went out to put food out for her but still no sign of her. I walked down and looked in the street and there she was dead and mangled. Obviusly hit by a car ![]() Poor Bootsie... Sigh.. I will miss her alot. I have some pictures of her on my cell phone if I figure out how to get them off the phone Ill put some up.

Even though you can't take them in, it's so easy to get attached.
There are two that hang around my apartment/flat. They must be abandoned. I give them food and water, but can't take them in because, 1: There's a one pet limit per apartment/flat. 2: Although my dog makes a great truckin' buddy, I dare not try it with a cat. They're both good cats. These are the only two cats I have ever experienced that accompany my dog and me on our walks. The older one, with a bobcat paintjob doesn't like to be picked up, but the younger of the two is totaly differnt. She climb's up my leg (ouch) and inside my coat, where she'll purr no end. She's black, with white hands, legs, and chest. My dog is the coolest (dutch smoushond). He still shows the ferral cats who's king, but lets these two do anything they want. He provides full protection from both dogs (which are promptly chased out of his kingdom) and ferral cats. It's got to be a comical sight to see one man, one dog, and two cats, walking in a tight formation. Too bad I'm not back in DK. A trip across Kattegat with them, to Bittles, would have been so right. That's been on my mind since his thread. |

Always sad to hear when a cat dies. I know how it feels to lose one, or two actually, as I'm sure you know by now. I'm very fond of cats overall, and always finds it disturbing to hear bad news about any cat, anywhere.

Wow that was sad.
Bootsie had a buddy. Probably a sibling as they both had the same markings except Bootsie was grey and white. This cat we call "Black and White kitty". He is very very skittish and you cant get within 10 feet of him but still he will sit and watch you put the food down and wait for you to leave. He will even look you straight in the eye and give you that slow blink of acknoledgement. I put food down for him and let him be. When I left work tonight he was sitting around food untouched. I'd swear I heard him call Bootsie's name.

Yes, cats have a unfair reputation of being cold and indifferent, but obviously this is not true. It's sad to see a cat being sad, upset or just bewildered, not knowing what to do.
I sure hope the second cat you speak of will make it through this. The name is Biggles, not Bittles, btw ![]() ![]() ![]()

Wow, this is a bad time. My roommate has six cats (one of whom doesn't get along with the others, so now he's 'my' cat, locked in my room all the time). There are also four neighborhood cats hanging out in the back yard. One of them died two days ago, and we still don't know why. My friend was devestated, so I took care of the burial for him.
In this case it didn't mean much to me, but I know how it is once you get attached.
