Default New to the the game, have a dumb question.

Alright, first off, just want to apologize beforehand for asking this. I play quite a bit of heavily modded simgames (ArmA, OFP, etc) and I know that this question is the one that gets asked the most, and is most often associated with migraines. Just how the hell, exactly, does a man go about installing a mod in SH:4?

That said, I thank you guys ahead of time for your patience and help.

Oh. And is anyone willing to take a poor ex-Jarhead under their wing and teach them the ways of this swabbie outfit? I can't pilot one of these boats to save my life.

I followed those step by step, and I got the mod to activate, but when I fire it up, it crashes at the menu. Real Fleet boat, mind you, not the other one that he says to install.

EDIT: I'm an idiot. I need to have my Uboats expansion installed. Teach me not to read readmes.

I did the same thing except with TMO 1.7 .
Get the uboat addon then, i`m sure you`ll find it worthwhile.

I already had it, just not installed. Man, for some reason this mod is actually a little easier. Save for the not having the shape of the ship on my map. Good stuff, though.

i would caution that the winrar zip program has issues with 7zip files so i would not use it.

most mods are done in 7zip form and if a 7zip file is unzipped with winrar (not sure about winzip) it will very often not open correctly or have data thats incomplete or a mod that is corrupted and doesnt work right.

You'll find that 7-zip is a better archive program, completely open source without time limits or need to cheat on a time limit as per WinRar or WinZip. it understands everything, works fast as blue blazes, has no gloated interface, just what you need. It stands head and shoulders above the competition.

It's also multi-platform for us Ububtu Linux junkies!

Should be like most mods, double click on the 1st link it will then grab all other links automatically, then in 7zip or Winrar your see the full mod showing just extract that folder to your 'Mods' folder. Once done open up the mods enabler to enable it making sure you disable any other mods first before you add OM. Check the read me file of OM or the main OM thread to see what mods can be enabled with OM. Better still, check the main thread just in case ive gotten it wrong!

Just a tip, since your coming from FPS games, be it known that Silent Hunter games requires great stamina, agility, mana, +25 hit rating with dps scattershot of 3500 attack power.... oh wait wrong game! Try again... Silent hunter requires patience, patience is one of your best tools remember that. Oh and don't be too trigger happy. Good hunting!

Barnes I can tell you this bunch of fellows that play these sims and mod the same, are a great bunch, and you will be given plenty of help learning the gameplay and modding tools you need.Use the jsgme mod tool and everything will fall into place for you.
When I was in the USMC I served with a Cpl. Barnes. He was a good man. That was a long time ago.
Good luck with learning Silent Hunter,it's a killer sim

Hey, thanks man. As for that other Corporal Barnes, he couldn't have been the same guy. You said he was a good man, so I'm out. =P Good to see another Marine on here, though. Makes me feel more at home, I guess you could say. Happy Birthday, brother.

Default Wsock32.dll not found

Alright, so when I install the Uboats addon, I get the "Wsock32.dll not found" whenever I start the game, and I have no way of fixing it to my knowledge. I got the game of Direct 2 Drive, same place I got the Uboats. I've done a complete uninstall 3 times, to no avail. I've even manually placed a wsock32.dll file into every known folder I could find in the game.

What's going on?!
