Returning from patrol of AM53.
95% HI.
4 ships sunk. 26.529 GRT.

At 08.40 on 29.sep.43 a Hunter Killer Group, consisting of 5 warships was encountered in AM46. U338 successfuly evaded without incident.

Enemy air activity was heavy throughout the patrol.

None of the 4 ships sunk was in convoy.
1 sinking was in AM52, with the remainder in AM53.
(1 Tanker, 2 Cargo, 1 Ocean Going Tug.)
