Brilliant, I knew there was some kind of damage mod but never realised quite the effect it has. Would I be correct in thinking this ship has a lot of smaller compartments then?
I was there for so long that an American flying boat turned up and I had to crash dive. |

it depends on the ships. I don't know how the damage zones are laid out, but you can prolly guess they are now done up in a more realistic manner.
like that merchant you just sunk prolly had like 5 compartments. a tanker will have 6 or more. I dunno.

A few hours (in game hours) later I spotted another of exactly the same type, I was tempted not to bother. Must of been carrying a cargo of life jackets!

I don't think in reality a ship of that size would have been dispatched by the DG unless it was crippled by torpedoes first. As others stated, the damage model used by RFB uses "flooding" rather than hitpoints to sink ships. It is much more realistic this way. If however the DG must be used, be sure you're aiming for the waterline. That's the only way damage will be sustained. All the fancy explosions and roaring flames above deck do nothing but look good.
