First I would suggest that you go back to auto targeting till you understand how torpedos work.
For the most part you do not want to shoot straight out the front of the boat. Torpedos have a gyro to steer them to the target. They are supposed to turn. The course they takes is set up by the TDC (torpedo data computer) the data from the TDC is than feed to the PK (position keeper) This updates the torpedo as to where it goes. The TDC is the set of dials on the upper right in the periscope view. The PK is on the upper left. With auto targeting this is all done for you, you just point the periscope at the target and shoot when you get the little green arrow. With manual targeting you must enter all data yourself into the TDC and than sent it to the PK This data is target speed, AoB (angle on the bow), bearing and range. It can be very complicated at first, that is why I suggest you stick with auto targeting for a time. Enjoy the game in normal mode and study up on manual targeting at your own pace. Rockin Robbins has some very good tutorials posted at this link: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=146795 This link has a lot of good information for all kinds of stuff. Magic

Many Thanks for the sound advice. I have been following the You Tube tutorials for the Solution Solver 1.3 only half way through. Dont get me wrong I enjoy these sort of complexities, being an avid flight simulation fan.
I will let you know when i crack it ![]() regards, Richard |

Griphin I guess didn't read you correctly before, sounds like you are already well into the game.
Using the solution solve is one of the times you do shoot straight out the front, zero gyro angle. When you first load up the game all data in the TDC is set to 0 and you will shoot straight. If you have used the TDC for another shot than you will need to reset to zero gyro angle. To do this: set speed to 0 and send to PK. set AoB to 0° and send to PK set range to 1200 or so and put the periscope to 0° and send to PK. To set range just pull the range triangle down far as it will go. The solution solver is a neat little tool that is kind of fun to use. Gutted put a lot of work into it and did a very nice job. ![]() Once you get the hang of this tool it's very easy to use and very accurate as well. Good luck and good hunting. Magic
