Lol, sometimes the correct response to art work is: Your work has no merits at all and is not relevant culturally. Germans don't want to be constantly reminded of the Nazis and blamed for it, after all the vast majority of them had nothing to do with the whole thing.

I am assuming that his plan is not to sell the 'work of art' as a whole, but to sell it off individually, in which case the gold gnomes will be the prizes. Come purchase your chintz.

EDIT: Yes, he is not harking back to a time he remembers, or anything like that, he is just trying to profit on the really cliche'd German/Nazi association, which seems like a poor straw to grasp in his late career.

filling the town square with nazi gnomes .
Is there any better way to react when they wanted to block the display of a single gnome in an art gallery?
