Well, the familiarity is with the machines (the boats), not SH5 itself, as the interface doesn't resemble anything we've seen before, actually, I think is quite minimalistic. But, the devs always wanted for it to be playable by any newbie to not just the SH saga, but the whole subsimming world (being as we are the "hardcore" world), so I think we won't have many problems using it, I thought it was intuitive.

Cheers

My God...

Which mods of SH3 and SH4 are very popular and why?

Which additional ideas of SH3 and SH4 are very popular?

List of bugs of SH3 solved in 1.1 patch
List of bugs of SH3 solved in 1.2 patch
List of bugs of SH3 solved in 1.3 patch
List of bugs of SH3 solved in 1.4 patch
List of unsolved bugs of SH3 in 1.4 patch

List of bugs of SH4 solved in 1.1 patch
List of bugs of SH4 solved in 1.2 patch
List of bugs of SH4 solved in 1.3 patch
List of bugs of SH4 solved in 1.4 patch
List of bugs of SH4 solved in 1.5 patch
List of unsolved bugs of SH4 in 1.5 patch

...and the final product will be free from known bugs and has best ideas of players...

Really is this system too complicated???

its easy to point to those who stand out front (the devs) but if you spend some time on the other side of the fence, you would be shocked at how equally frustrated the devs are AND they probably often feel the same way about things that you do.

often the devs are not allowed to follow what seems to be common sense solutions to things because of all kinds of outside influences that have nothing to do with the actual game itself.

lawyers, suits, the nefew of the boss needs an important job, the copywrite stuff, budgets, time restrictions, mandatory meetings to discuss other meetings, licensing issues.

Right...
But you forgot about one important thing: OPINION.
SH4 based on great opinion of SH3 and DEV was looked only on things in your post. Result? "Bugs of the Pacific".

Second thing: look on patch list for SH4...
I understand that some bugs can be unsolved when game is solved becouse DEV time is over, but...
new patch 1.5 (great!) which is extra-paid (foul play!)?
add u-boats add-on (great!) and block play uboats in multi mode (foul play!)?

It is not so big problem if game can be easy modded... really...
but if we have easy bugs to solve but hard coded...

If you bought "Dud / Trash", the next time you buy a "Dud 2 / Trash 2"?

With SHIV and its woefully inadequate development time, I was not looking forward to the release at all. This time, I get a very different sense.

I think SHV will be outstanding. Will there be bugs? Sure. The patches will fix the bugs, and the modders will once again show the subsim world their incredible talent.

No game or sim can be all things to all people, but I think SHV is going to shut a lot of people up.

So, many thanks to Dan ad the Devs for listening, and understanding our frustrations. I think we would encounter a sharp learning curve if we were a fly on the wall within Ubisoft and saw the restrictions and limitations that these Devs have to work with.

Looking forward to March. This game had better work on a gaming Laptop though, as I'm about to buy a new one.
