Default And another classic to be butchered.

This time, Nightmare on Elm Street.

Now, I propably wouldnt be this worried but it's directed by Michael "Armageddon" Bay! NO ****ING WAY!

They even made Freddy sound like a pussy!

Goddammit!!

It's difficult to think of Nightmare on Elm Street as a "classic"...

I remember when i was about 10 years old i told my mom i wanted to see the nightmare on elm st series.

she was curious as to where i had seen any of them before.

late night TV was the answer.

she was a little bothered at first.

but then i gave her all the details of the cinematic special effects and expressed an interest in the horror franchise, and told her the story line and gave her all the ins and outs of the film etc.

she realized i guess that i was looking at it from a "franchise fan" standpoint and with a level of maturity with respect to horror films that she probably didnt expect from a 10 year old.

she rented a few of them the next day and we watched them.

she was terrified, i just thought it was awesome.

the next Halloween i was freddy... i rang the door bell of a nice home filled with teenage girls - coincidentally all watching nightmare on elm street.

they screamed when they answered the door, some laughed and they took pictures of the 10 year old freddy... it was a neat thing LOL

I used to be scared of Freddy poking his blades through my bed and slicing me up.

Now I sleep on a titanium mattress so he can't hurt me.

I also don't like peaches.

Yes...Englund made that character what he is. That movie did scare the be-jebbers out of me though. Going to the basement to check out the furnace was just not in the cards for a while after watching that movie.

Much prefer a scantily clad beauty going into the cellar of Draculas castle with only one candle to investigate a creaking noise.

I have to agree. I was pissed off by the remake of The Shining, though.

an important and frightening thing to remember... a classic is often defined by the generation which was exposed to it.

for example, my mother might consider Gone with the wind to be a classic.

some 15 year old kid today might not.

that 15 year old kid might say snakes on a plane is a classic.

or he might say that the "final destination" series is a classic.

when in fact.. as far as many of us might be concerned it is far from a classic.

sad really, the older i get, the more the things that mean something to me slip away into death or obscurity.
