Well I doubt CNN will run this as a headline, but I liked this point:

All this fuzz may just be in favour of Ubisoft - and increase our chances of seeing SH4 and/or a REAL SH3 add-on.

Excellent and revealing comments Neal.

Neal

I do not understand what is going on here. I am new at modding. That guy for X1 ask me if he could use my mod. I thought it would be OK since I thought Iwas HELPING the Silent hunter III francise in order to creat more business for UbiSoft so we can see a real good sequal.

My intention was never to support a company that is blantantly ripping off other people's hard work without permission.

Now since I am on that BLACK LIST in the post, no one is talking to me anymore.

I was only trying to help the greater good, and now everyone hates me? I am not part of X1 or anything. This is a hobby for me.

Steve, can you speak out on why I should get the cold shoulder from people here since I did make a couple of decent mods and some discoveries. Now no one seems to want me around.

This creates a rift and feeling of ill will. I was only trying to help Silent Hunter III and the average person who may buy the game and get some decent fixes to the game and enjoy it more.

I never wanted people to hate me, I am not associated with X1. I am just a newbie Modder trying to make a good game better and spread the good word. and have fun talking to people.

Now I feel get the 'silent treatment'. Do you guys hate me because I fell for the scam? I thought I was doing right - you know like donating money to 'Feed the Children'.

Todays my birthday, July 29 1965 the big 40. Yeh, I feel really happy...

Don't worry about it, Jungman! I think you're slightly exaggarating. I don't think there's any problem with giving permission to use your mods. I probably would've, too, under the initial circumstances.

I would be very upset if any of this was suddenly turned around against any of the modders here, whether they gave permission or vocally protested against X1. Whether you're Jugman who gave permission, or Jason who found Len's dirty laundry, you're also Jungman who hugely improved the game by adjusting the sonar, or Jason who did it by revising the convoys.

There's no reason to 'blacklist' anyone who did not go into this scenario with any ulterior motives. :hmm:

Happy birthday and welcome in the club (I was *01/04/65)

I don't hate you (or anyone other who agreed to hand over their work to X1), nor do I feel to stop communication with a n y modder in this or 'my' various flightsim communities!

I think I can speak on behalf of most modders inhere stating that we have a problem with X1 including mods without proper permission, NOT with anyone giving them permission!

I'll gladly host any of your future mods! Now, please, celebrate your birthday, drink that virtual beer (or better a glass of champaign) I just handed over - and have fun. You won't become younger!

Default Urgh.

Ouch.

Jungman, I think you may have a point here. A new modder isn't going to realize the significance of what he's being asked to do is going to have on the community and the people who have been doing this for longer. They're not going to realize that they are making a stand for what they only thought was right.

I'd be curious to know WHEN you were asked if your mod could be included...if it only was after so many here had started their talk of boycott.

Guys, I know I'm new around here and pretty much unknown but I have been around other forums enough to know that Jungman's in a scrape here.

There are probably people out there that will never forgive him. But can't his sincerity be tested somehow?

Jungman, do you have a way to pull out of the X1 project? They sound like real scum, and did NOT have the community's interests at heart, only their own purse strings...

You're still cool with me dude. I think all the modders that allowed their mods to be included were as duped as the rest of us.

I appreciate your efforts and everyone else's to make this game better. Even those who are okay with X1 including their mods in SeaWolves.

You know I love you man. You've been doing great work with the sensorpak mods, and your looking into XXI things is a boon.

btw, happy birthday, I just hit 43 June 29th. How's it feel being 'over the hill'?

No one is mad at you. Quite the contrary... you are one of the people who uses their time and talent to kep our hobby alive. You deserve our thanks and support.

So thanks, and Happy Birthday.

If it is any consolation mine was Wednesday and I spent it deleting a bunch of out of line posts. And as far as turning 40 goes you have a way to go to catch up to me!

Happy Birthday, Jungmann!

Don't let this business get you down, mate! I use your DC mod and I, like others here appreciate your work.

You weren't the only modder to be duped by those X1 scammers, and it cuts no ice with me - you are ok in my book, man!

Keep up the good work!

Hmm. Interesting you should mention that. I'll bet you didn't know that the makers of Full Canvas Jacket were accused of the exact same thing that X1 is now being accused of. We in the Red Baron 3D community were fairly sure they ripped off a lot of the scenery tiles from another commercial flight sim.

The makers of Full Canvas Jacket seemed to get away with it scot free. I just hope the same doesn't turn out to be the case with Seawolves.

I guess what I'm saying is that this type of dishonourable activity may be a lot more common than people think.
