and of course there is a legal issue of software. No one expects that every modder owns a legal copy 3dsMax. The content that is made on pirate (or education) version cannot be used commercially.

EDIT: And by the way i really suggest you to learn 3dsMax. Its fun as hell. If you want quality cheap educational material then head over to

And if you need an inspiration to see what a 1 man can do with this software then head over to www.tysonibele.com <--- see his works.

yes tomi's work is beautiful but there are many people who do good work and a very select few who do absolutely amazing work but to ask for someone to be singled out by ubi for praise and recognition is a slap in the face to those who arent mentioned so who is to decide the value of another persons work over others.

many great modders have come and gone and some are sadly no longer with the living but shouldnt they be equally recognized too?

this request, while it is well meant, it is still wrong to make such a request for so many reasons beyong ubi's legal limits.

I think we should all be happy that we have a game that for the most part is very moddable and judging from what I have seen in the SHV Threads here, will only be more so going forward.

And you are right Webster, there are many great modders here at SUBSIM, and other forums for that matter.

maybe the problem is that the creator has no way to legally 'prove' that it is his or her work to distribute.

But what do i know about legal matters? squat diddly. i guess they (the leagal boffins) know what they are doing.
Sometimes you just have to kick the administration in the balls...

Awesome work Tomi.. Ubisoft would be stupid not to use and enhance your work..

Thank you for the honor, but I have to do better.

Thus, a Capt. recently said "This is all just a game, or is this not a game"

I want to deny something,

Some time ago !!
then I've read in a GAME magazine

The developers of SH? have asked abaut the 3D-models of the Moder !!

How much of this article corresponds to the truth, I did not share.
Because back then I was just a spectator, and followed that any more.

Their policy is that any Ubisoft product must only contain 'in house' files at release.
You see Dave's SH4 work and you watch Tomi's vid in previous post then you read the above Ubisoft "policy" and you realise, very quickly in fact, that some companies really do employ monkeys....especially in the policy making department. Can you imagine Red Hat adopting a similar policy ?

So here you go Ubisoft, if you feel your policy is justified then feel free to explain why here.....if not then i'll just continue sending you bannanas for christmasn

I believe that this aspect is the accurate way.

Each company has its own policy.

Suppose Ubisoft takes my model or by someone else (no matter)
And who all is absolutely ideal and perfect.

Could the guys making the store and there were no SH5 or 6 or 7
So no business suits make.
Fortunately, this might take just that Nivo from UbiSoft.

Now I think the bigger problem at the moment what are the resources UBI.
This means that build on the OLD on a NEW (SH4), or a new engine for the future.

And the costs time and money.

So what to make with a detailed model when it is useless!
----------------

(Eng/US)

The only question now arises, it will be a new Engin?
For, judging by the pictures that everything is still built on SH4 Engin.
Is this just a rumor or truth?

Jetzt stellt sich nur die Frage wird es eine neue Engin geben??
Denn nach den Bildern zu urteilen ist das alles noch auf SH4 Engin aufgebaut.
Ist das nur ein Gerücht oder Wahrheit??

Still VERY much a work in progress, so much of what you see at this point will look like SH3/SH4.
Its too early to tell

sh5 is not built on the sh4 engine at all

its a completely new and redesigned engine and data but it uses simular "content" and file structure so you will recognize the files for easier modding of the game and since its based on the same content (ww2) you will see the same things in the game but they will be all new and re-created things and not anything will be taken from sh3 or sh4

To appear Silent Hunter 5

To appear Silent Hunter 5, we will dream of such boats.
So a little patience!

Bis Silent Hunter 5 erscheint , werden wir von solchen Booten träumen.
Also noch ein wenig geduld !!
