The rights are for the IP. In this case, the IP holder does not have a copy of the property itself - the source code. Sadly, this is the case with some of the classics. The code is missing, lost in the shuffles of bankruptcy, sale, storage losses of old materials from old companies, people moving, etc.

In this case, Damon now has the legal rights to the IP - but has to locate the actual code from someone who I really really really hope has possession.
