Red Baron II/3D: Mad Otter Games Acquires Red Baron Series!

Breaking news! Mad Otter Games has acquired all rights to the Red Baron W.W.I flight simulation series - in particular Red Baron, Red Baron II and Red Baron 3D. Some of the members of Mad Otter Games, namely Dynamix co-founder Damon Slye had worked on the original Red Baron already back in the days when they were employed with Dynamix.

Now there is another part of this story: as the source codes of Red Baron, Red Baron II and Red Baron 3D is missing (Vivendi who bought Sierra Entertainment is reported to not find the code anymore) Mad Otter Games is offering a finder's fee of US-$ 1500 to the first person to deliver the complete source code (the original C or C++ code).

What originally got me there is a google that said they had a demo of ROF.

I wonder what they want to do with the source, hmm...

Anyway, hope they find it, would love to see some possible modernization to one of the best flight sims ever (IMO).

The rights are for the IP. In this case, the IP holder does not have a copy of the property itself - the source code. Sadly, this is the case with some of the classics. The code is missing, lost in the shuffles of bankruptcy, sale, storage losses of old materials from old companies, people moving, etc.

In this case, Damon now has the legal rights to the IP - but has to locate the actual code from someone who I really really really hope has possession.
