Another option you have to adjust light in the game -besides your monitor brightness control- is to use the in game built software antialising. Simply press SHIFT+Avpag or Repag to increase/reduce the AA. A side effect of using it is that the screen gets a lot brighter

I, like others use the Flags Enlighten mod but I edited it to tone down the light level a bit so that it is still hard to see them at night but not impossible like it is with GWX and an LCD monitor. The backlights on LCDs can be a pain in the butt sometimes and I find myself with my nose against the screen often....

If you have this specific problem only on SH GWX why don't you just "enlighten" you monitor a tad...?.....when playing. |

I may have to try that flag enlightenment mod. I've seen ships spotlight their flags. Could be just an artifact of my video card, but the flag is ALWAYS silhouetted in front of the light. I've gone free-view and observed from all angles, and it is still the case.

Yeah the spotlights just compound the problem and I get the same thing you describe. I'm not one to take for granted that a lit ship is a neutral ship and will always investigate any contact. Here's a link to the mod's thread as I don't think it's been posted here yet:
