Don't know if I agree with that. In order to form an intelligent opinion you need to open your mind to all points of view. I've changed my mind on issues because of things I read, having other people point out things I didn't think of. I wouldn't say a forum is a good place to gather facts, but it could point you in the right direction to get the information you need.

I think debate is healthy. A forum is just a convenient place to do it. However, still trying to figure out what taxes, health care, and religion have to do with submarines......

I've read these forums for nine years and have never seen anyone have his mind changed because of discourse. As I have said repeatedly, political discourse on the internet is as toxic as it is futile. Some have greater resistance than others, but it will eventually get to you.

The thoughts that you allow us to have are the ones you share with us.

After a period of time we know which way you lean and we know how to flow with or against the thoughts.

Many toxic threads here for sure, but just chose your arena better.

Don't give up your passion which is basically your soul ... just learn to flow.

We still care what you think ... how could we debate each other if we didn't know what you think?

So reconsider your flight plan and make your final approach.

While I agree that nobodys political opinions on the forum have been changed, I find that debating them here does sharpen my arguments in face to face discussions.

Well as i stated, i will no longer make posts of any drawn out nature in politically charged threads here at subsmim. (at the office, or the bar is a different matter)

not because i dont have an opinion

not because it may or may not be a "losing argument"

but, because i can get very "stirred" with certain political discussions sometimes, and i consider everyone here to be a friend... i dont want to say something that would either A. damage a friendship or B. jeopardize my membership. (especially B

)
