Lol @ "common sense" (fixed, BTW). This is not an issue of common sense; one man's common sense is another man's folly. All it is, is a matter of scientific fact. Temperatures have been rising all over the world for the past 40 years in correlation with CO2 and CFC emissions; any idiot who has used the internet can check out NASA's Goddard Institute sometime for the numbers... or even National Geographic for that matter. Hell I just gave you a link to Woods Hole, one of the most distinguished scientific organizations in the world. Run through their numbers. A good portion of it pertains to ocean temperatures, but a good portion also deals with atmospheric temperatures. You know what? I'll make it simple. There's a guy on YouTube- Potholer54-- who does these scientific and debunking vids for his subscribers. Cites all his sources so you can check them, gives feedback to commentators, you get the picture. I'll give you some links to some of the stuff he's worked on with the global warming issue. You don't have to read anything... except for a few graphs and charts and references that he puts in there. Otherwise, it's simple. And if you want to double check his facts, all you need to do is a Google search. Here: The rest are in the playlist box to the right. |

![]() Pay attention to what I said in that post, sonny-Jim. Wait, you're trolling aren't you? That or you are just entirely unenlightened as to anything on this matter and are just being persistent that you know what you're talking about when- in reality-- you don't know a damned thing lol. |

I drive a hybrid van, I don't overuse the AC (unless it gets above 100*), I use low-watt lightbulbs, and I recycle. There are a bunch of other things I do, but you get the picture. Bleedin' Jesus on the cross. ![]() |

Sounds like we are on the same plain, except I drive a vehicle which doesn't need enviromentally unsafe batteries. Yet I don't think warming or cooling are human caused.

Indeed, over the last few years the average global temperature has seen a decline (even though they are fairly dramatically up over a 50 year average. However, average global temperature doesn't mean all that much if you consider that only certain areas are extremely sensitve, such as the polar icecaps. Now, should that region on its own see a dramatic enough increase in temperature that it bleeds a significant amount of fresh water into the ocean its going to change currents and temperatures, which WILL effect the global climate (the El Nino phenomenon demonstrates this CLEARLY). Will it be as disasterous as the Al Gore alarmists claim? Probably not. My problem with the scientific "consensus" of Global Warming is three-fold. First, as I previously mentioned, the alarmists have decided to use their platform to promote a worst-case scenario, even though the science clearly doesn't understand the situation enough to make such a prediction. Secondly, I'm tired of the scientific community getting a pass on their alarmist predictions that fail, such as the hurricane season following Katrina which they predicted would be exceptionally active. It was quite the opposite, but instead of acknowledging the flaws in their models and understanding, they press on as if it never happened. Finally, I do not believe that anything called a "scientific consensus" is science. Consensus gave us a flat Earth at the center of the universe. Either the Earth is warming or it won't. Either this will result in certain things happening or it won't. I don't care if 1000 scientists say one thing ... for all we know the 10 scientists with a different theory could be right. In other words, present your measurements, findings, and theories, but don't try to "prove" those things by consensus over observation (which is what has started happening due to the politics of alarmism). My feeling is that the average of global temperature increase will have some adverse effects to our current paradigm of "climate", but who's to say that the climate we've seen over the last 200 years is the "best"? On a planet where 99% of all species that have ever existed are extinct, such fluctuations are normal - and could in fact AID some forms of life. Furthermore, there's science suggesting that some of the increase in temperature is due to solar activity, so again, we really don't know much. Indeed, I prefer to live somewhat environmentally friendly. I recycle, keep the A/C off most of the time, turn off the lights, etc. But I do it because I just want to be clean and smart with my consumption. I don't need Al Gore to scare me into it. The bottom line, CB, is that you should know the science you're dismissing before you dismiss it under the argument that "you're stupid if you believe it". Because, realistically, the people on that side of the argument are the one's who don't really know what the hell they're talking about. |

I live the way I like. If the next Generation is so bright let them fix it.
Regardless of the fact that most of todays students can't even point out where they live on a map. ![]() |
