After being detected initially, even diving to the 200m range - my noise level goes green - in silent running at minimum throttle setting.

Go figure, I can't lose the escorts at 200m? This is in 1943 though, possibly better sonar?

The noise meter is only an indicator and not a definitive indicator.

Try going a little deeper....if your using SH3 Commander, the programme adjusts the sensitivity of the sensor range randomly to represent thermal layers.

Turn off the noise meter. It makes no sense. You will be able to sneak away (silent running and go deeeep 220 meters). Use hard starboard or imagine what a real Kaleun would do.

YOU WILL SURVIVE!

Good Luck!

Hanomag,

How come you can't manage to get a full green bar in the repair compartment with 4 skilled repair officers ?

I dont know about you but on my maiden voyage with my IXC i attacked a convoy of 4 ships (only 1 lead escort) and though i sunk 2 ships with 2 torps the problem began when i thought , ok 240m on silent runnign , i have to wait half an hour and be on my way...

Oh how wrong i was. My boat at silent running , actually below 2knt i could maintain safe depth and kept sinking fast enough so i had to either go at 3knt at witch the DD detected me or sink to the abyss. Anyway after about 4 hours and every explosive on that ship being thrown at me i managed to escape ( above 140m i could maintain the depth at silent running but it took me quite a while to find it out). Curiously enough this depth issue never repeted (however maybe it has something to do with my extremly fast diving the first time). It was early '42 so i managed to escape fairly easy (though by no means fast).

Or inexperienced too?

In NYGM you have one officer only, and 4 crew members you can assign in the repair compartment!
