I usually zoom in to the smallest navmap scale but in fact i never mark the position of the Uboat on the navmap. So, when i mark the position of a ship on the navmap i always do this after when i have fully zoomed-in. What exactly do you have in mind, may i ask?

I'm not very familiar with target course plotting (but want to learn it). so my beginners thoughts are to plot the target's course the following way:

1) reading the absolute position of my sub from the nav map.

2) finding range and bearing of the target, relative to my position.

3) knowing 1) and 2) I can easily calculate the absolute position of the target and plot it into the nav-map.

4) doing the procedure 1) - 3) at least two times allows me to find the course and speed of the target.

I usualy have a waypoint placed on the map, so the beginpoint of the line allways points to my uboat. And if you zoom out it should show your uboat icon. But that isn't practical for plotting because the drawing will be to small.
