depending on how late in the war we are talking about...

...avoid convoys, task force groups and single warships entirely.

at the slightest hint of radar signals go deep and quiet.

at the first indication of aircraft crash dive to at least 50 m

avoid shallow water (water less than 180m deep) at ALL COSTS

target only single merchants or merchants in unescorted groups of 3 or less - there are not very many after 44

at this point in the game, the war is over for you, you have done all you can, the fight is now in the hands of the ground forces scattered across Europe.

be conservative, take no chances, stay submerged through the day, hunt at night.

and most importantly

never hang out more ass cheek than you care to have shot off
