I haven't seen one of those since I took the pictures, it had probably something to do with the very warm temperatures we had up here for a while in late June.

No need to worry....unless its parents come looking for their offspring.

I hate flies. Just came back from our cottage which was filled with them. Turned out it's their mating time or something as the little wankers were ****ing on the table, ****ing on the floor, ****ing on my knee, everywhere!

Then our cat came and ate them.

On the subject of insects, I now live more to the south of Finland and it's weird because when I go to the forest there is almost no mosquitos at all. In the north they will pretty much suck you dry. Well not quite but at first they are quite a nuisance. Then you learn to sort of ignore them or use lots of insect repellent.

Yes, mosquitos...

Most irritating thing is that for some reason they really want to enter the ears. It's the most irritating when you're sleeping and a mosquito flies by the ear. Then all you can do is get up and put on the lights and go mosquito hunting.

Minä en tykkää itikoita. Was that correctly written?

Translation: I don't like mosquitos.

My Finnish isn't too good.

Speaking of nasty flys we here in florida have these flys called 'horse flys' they get pretty big about the size of a dime in some cases.

They are carnivorous and when they bite eyyyooowww they actually take a small chunk of skin with them. Persistant too.

I remember surfing probably a good 100 yards off shore and along comes a horse fly buzzing about trying to grab a snack. So I dive underwater and try to swim off towing my surboard behind me. I stay down as long as I can and when I come up... there is that damn fly again looking for a snack. The only way to evade the pest was to surf in to shore and then paddle back out again. But... another one would show up eventually starting the whole routine over.

@ Dowly: Thanks. Finnish is quite tricky with all the endings that are added to the words.

I don't know how much difference there is between the species of horse flys in Florida and Sweden, but they're all equally annoying though.

Especially when they're orbiting around you constantly. bzz bzzzz... Yes yes, find someone else to bother!
