Not even close to a coast. The Arkansas River runs by there though. The river is just on the other side of those trees off the bow I believe. They towed it up that. I would love to find more details of exactly how they got it there though.

There's a couple of pictures in the museum of when the Arkansas flooded and filled the grassy bowl with water. It makes it look like she was floating again.

The trip, and acquisition of the Batfish is a story in itself, so is the story of the first few years of the Batfish in Muskogee,it was almost as intense as a war patrol.

Thanks for the pics sometimes I wish I lived in the US, we dont have any of the old subs in the UK.

Toured an old uboat many years ago in sweden though.

I might be misunderstanding what your post said, but the Batfish sank 3 submarines in 3 days not 3 each night.

I recently read the book "Final Patrol", Batfish is one of the boats mentioned, and yes that was quite a feat sinking 3 IJN Subs in three nights.

I just read this book to it is a great book. Thanks for the pics and showing us that they are trying to take care of the USS Batfish, the ole girl needs some love.
