I think that the reason you are using so much ammo with RFB is the fact that you are short of paitence my friend. I have sent 2 or even 1 torp at a merchant in RFB and had it go down without expending any more torp's ( the ones that go BOOM are the only ones I am counting), I may have pumped 10 to 15 deck gun shots into it.

It is the sinking Mech's that make you wait for the "she's going down sir", sometimes it takes 30 (game min) minutes to an hr, but they will go down.
