What is in your (very small) installed "fast" directory?

To make mine work, I installed Fast Attack using dos box, as well as using it to run the sim.

mount c c:\mydosbox (or whatever folder name you want to use)
mount d d\: -t cdrom (or whatever the letter is for your cd/dvd drive)
d:
install

TO RUN: This assumes you have made an image of your original disk, and mounted it! Use whatever drive letter you have mounted your FA image on - mine was "m". So running it is a little more complex than some dos games.

A bat file that only mounts your directory above the Fast Attack installation should work just fine. Here are the contents of my bat file:

dosbox.exe C:\mydosbox fast.exe -c "MOUNT m m:\ -t cdrom" -fullscreen

From the resulting dosbox "c:" prompt:

cd sierra\fast
fast

You would alter the path for your own install and directories. Mine is "mydosbox\Sierra\fast" Note that this bat fails to execute the fast.exe command for reasons unknown to me. The bat file is in the dosbox main directory, wherever you installed it. So you would manually launch from your prompt.

Hi, Probably out of my league here, Just looking around Subsim site while waiting reply from classic sub posts and noticed your post:-

dosbox.exe C:\mydosbox fast.exe -c "MOUNT m m:\ -t cdrom" -fullscreen

I have Silent Hunter original by SSI loaded through Dosbox and although everthing says it's running in Fullscreen, It's in the middle of the screen with a large black box around it and not really playable at that setting.

I Loaded SH through dosbox version 0.73 would this solve the problem.

Many thanks

paul

The easiest thing to be "wrong" and to fix is if this is a simple resolution thing that happens in dosbox with some old games. Try changing the resolution selections in dosbox, starting with original, then the lowest (320 or something similar), 680x400, etc. I think you are running in a higher resolution than will fill the screen, and lowering it should do the trick as long as you have the sim running, just too small.

HI, thanks for your help, now working properly, although a bit sluggish.
One more question if you don't mind, can I set a resolution thats not in the normal windows list i.e. something between 640X480 and 800X600 or between 800X600 and 1024X768.

Thanks again

Paul
