Looking at the last crop of sex scandals, it seems that what sinks the politician concerned is not the affair itself, more the lying and trying to cover it up.
Hence Sanford's sackcloth and ashes routine. Platapus - If I was on Sanford's staff/PR team, I'd be seriously angry. He's made a joke out of his office.
