I once walked by no. 10 Downing Street, the pm's door was kinda blocked off from the public, couldn't knock on Tony Blair's (it was still his reign) door. There was a horse guard there and the horse was pretty calm, it let people pet it and stuff.
St James's Park was a nice place but I preferred Winston Churchill's war cabinet which is close by and open to the public. Btw, that funny fur hat has a Germanic background, it was originally a bear's fur that a soldier put on in order to "get the bear's strenght" before going into battle etc. |

I was invited to see the trooping of the colour several years ago ('06 I think).
All the more impressive when you are up close to it. I remember it was very, very dusty. Always worth reminding people that every man on parade is a serving soldier and likely to be in the middleeast before long. They still are!
