Yes, this is a great mod. Thank you John W. Hamm and conus00.

Nisgeis recently released an 'Eye Patch for Missing Eyes and Staring Crew' which is a must-have for me as the crews eyes going back behind their eye sockets is something that really bothered me. It caused me to stick with SH3 and kept me from playing SH4 except in passing on rare occasion. I am thinking that if you are a TMO or RFB user that the Eye Patch effects R.U.I.M. in some way or another since it installs a MARINE.dat file and removes the MARINE2.dat file, which are both in R.U.I.M.

Any chance you guys might be able to colaborate with Nisgeis and get the mods incorporated with each other?

Whatever the case, this is an awesome mod you guys and Thanks!

Cheers

I'm not sure how another mod would take out the Marine2 file. that just seems odd to me. The Marine 2 file was a brain child of mine and for the life of me I can't remember the details of how or why it works (I haven't played or kept up with SH4 in almost a year.) At any rate it has something to do with compatibilities issues with the uboat add on and the in game crew 3d. Some how or another I screwed up and figured out that putting the marine.dat from uboats and the marine.dat from the original SH4 in at the same time fixed model rendering issues If I am not mistaken (but I may very well be) Marine.dat is the original from vanilla SH4 and Marine2.dat is the Marine.dat file from Uboat. What the problem might be is that Nisgeis Mod may use the Marine.dat from uboat and since it is named the same it is essentially makes it to were there are two of the exact same Marine.dat files. And may be what is causing the instability that having the two in there together originally fixed???? I have no idea but it is just a thought. One of the main reasons I used both Marine.dat files the way I did was because I have no concept on how to edit a .DAT file and on top of that I had no way of knowing what files in the Marine.DAT were needed or not so I had no way to combine them into one file. and using them both at the same time worked just great. But it would appear that Nisgeis has some concept on how to mod the .dat file and if he could figure what Marine.dat has in it that Marine2.dat does not (or vice versa) and then mod the changes taht his eye patch also has in to it it may just work. Another solution could be Take his Marine.dat and name it Marine3.dat and then place Ruim last and I bet that would work (actually that may be the best and easiest way) Logic would dictate it any way. I mean if I can have both of the other Marine.dat files in there and the computer games clearly reads both of those otherwise we would still have the 3d glitches that were in there before (I.E. weird shaded uniforms and German crews missing half their body's....it's all starting to come back to me as I write this) any try my last option first then if that does not work then see if he could edit those files as I suggested.....I certainly have no idea how.

Is there any way to install this so that I don't get the German in the undershirt? I have no problems with the swastika at all, I know the shirt is authentic, and I have even replaced my German Naval and National flags. My problem is that U Boat crews of the time have a reputation for being gaunt, pale, skinny etc.. I have a boat full of bodybuilders with tans! lol The texture looks great, I just don't think the muscular model looks right in the setting, especially when at times you can see 4+ on one watch.

Other then that it looks fantastic all around.

The models were not something that we edited. just the uniforms, so if I'm not mistaken that is just part of the vanilla game.

Hello, this is very nice mod, absolutely perfect. And if I may join (even though I'm late) the discussion about historical symbols, sickle and hammer are not banned because the history is written by the winners, not the loosers. That's why you can still buy soviet flag and nothing happens, but you are accused of being a nazi when you have only head with german helmet on it on a t-shirt. I don't want to annoy someone, but that's my opinion.

May I have permission to host your mod? (see sig)
Ofcourse, since your screenies are still dead I was wondering if you'd be willing to email them to me instead?

I'm using TMO 1.9 and after installing this mod the characters eyes went back to the default SH4 "staring at you whenever you move" animation. Is there a way to fix this? I really like the new smoother clothes textures /ranks but the default eyes are really annoying Thanks.

I'm fairly sure this mod is included with the latest TMO anyway - anyone know for sure. What's with all the necro posting of late? Installing old versions of mods will probably cause problems with any supermod, so be careful with these old threads!

Hi Nisgeis, I was looking for an uniform mods and this was the only one I've found, should have checked the date. I guess this mod is not included with TMO because the clothes are rendered much better with RUIM installed, with TMO (and I guess stock too) there's a gradient/banding (not sure about the right term), like the shirt on this picture:

That's what I was trying to fix, but just like an old car once you fix one problem, some other problem shows up! I tried to copy only the textures from RUIM but the banding was still present. I guess it's something to do with the MARINE.dat file and I have no clue what to look for to fix that.

Yes, I'm sure that was fixed by someone... It's to do with there being some extra code that isn't picked up by S3D and whatever it does it smoothes the uniforms out. The smooth uniforms are from 1.5 and the banded ones are from 1.4. TMO used both files and so everything is duplicated twice and for whatever rteson it choses the banded models with the staring fix. Someone posted the exra hex bits that was responsible, but I can't find it. Too long ago now.

Nisgeis, thanks so much for the tip! After searching with all keywords I could think of I found it buried in this thread:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...&postcount=112

It was a fix by Captain America. I used a hex editor and fixed the TMO file and it works great now! No weird looking eyes and smooth better looking uniforms! Resurrecting this thread at least solved my problem.
