Default Hot key for sending men to flak guns

Paul and others,
Below are the two commands for Hot Keys to control flak guns. Go to your commands_en.cfg file and add the last line (as shown below) to each of your sections and save. This adds the key strokes you need. Thus, ctrl F9 will send men to your flak guns and shift F9 will order fire at will.

[Cmd431]
Name=Man_the_flak_gun
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F2D0003
Str=2945
Key0=0x78,c,"CTRL F9"

[Cmd419]
Name=AAGuns_Fire_at_will
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F180006
Str=1063
Key0=0x78,s,"SHIFT F9"

Von Zelda

I tried the flak hotkey hack,and booted my save game back up,and noticed a problem immediately,my engines had stopped,and when I ordered them started again there was no response.I reverted the cfg file back to its original state and my game was back to normal again.

Sometimes i'm sceptical about a lot of these hacks and tweaks,as the potential for ruining a previously stable game is too much of a risk for me,unless of course it has been thoroughly tested by many people.I am thinking this hack was mainly intended for GWX versions of the game,which I don't have.

Thanks anyway.

This should be no surprise to the old hands in the forum; never install a major change to SH3 during a game. Always, but always, wait until you get back to port and install between saved games. Try it again when you return to port and have closed SH3. It should then work just fine.

I will try it when back at base.
I just thought that a simple hack wasnt as serious as installing a full blown mod.I am perfectly aware of the returning back to base before installing stuff.
Thanks for that reminder anyhow
Lastly,is what I described a recognized error?,have you heard of others mentioning that bizarre engine stopping?
Thanks.

Of course, i'm playing GWX3.0 and the command_en file might be slightly different, upgraded and probably contains some additional key strokes.

Make sure you add that keystroke line to the correct command (Man the Flak Guns) and not the command number, which might have changed since stock SH3.

I have a mini-mod (up to version 8) which changes and adds many keystrokes, so it was a challenge to come up with appropriate letters for all of them. Keystroke F was probably used for some other command.

You say you had a problem with the engines not running. I vaguely recall hearing of problem like this before. I think the solution was to go into reverse and then into forward, but I not positiely sure at this point. Did you try the ctrl F9 to see if it placed men at the flak gun or guns? I recall testing my setkey mods with the school missions while I had active games going on, but I probably only installed them while at port and exit from SH3.

Download and install GWX3.0 ASAP, you'll be happy you did.
