End of may 1942. I spotted an enemy ship at 07:50. It was still dark. I saved the game.
When i loaded that saved game back, it was bright sunlight, the enemy ship was gone and my waypoints were gone. I did some testing after that, saving at around 5:30am when it was still dark. Loaded that saved game and the sun is as high in the sky as it can go and its bright sunshine. Oh and my waypoints are gone again. Then i started the patrol again and saved the game on the 18th of april 1942 close to pearl. I saved it at 01:20am (very dark). I then loaded that saved game and its still 01:20am, but its daylight with the sun high in the sky. The problem then gets worse, as being full daylight at gone 1am throws the daylight to time way off, so it gets light when it should be going dark and so on. Anyone else have this problem, or know how to fix it? I,m using TMO 1.7 and RSRDC. I have TMO old environments enabled. Keith.

the game uses one time zone only, its set for all to be on the same time no matter where you are so local time is not used

After more testing, i've found that everytime i load the game back while playing, it will always be full daylight and my waypoints will always be gone, as will any enemy ships.
I have now found if i fully exit the game (back to windows desktop) and then restart the game and load the saved game, everything is fine (correct daylight/darkness to the time. My waypoints are also there. Strange! Keith.

That's really weird. This never happened to me even when I reload a savegame. It also doesn't matter if I reload it immediatly from the running mission or if I go back to the main menu or restart the application completely. It always works.
Despite some weirdness like if I load a savegame, right at the beginning I will hear a torpedo firing sound for every torpedo I fired so far on this saved mission. And other myterious stuff happens too. |

look into proper way to save games
its been covered in hundreds of posts that you never save with any AI (computer generated random traffic) in the area and only save on the surface at full stop or near it and never in shallow water where your getting the warning icon. also never save anywhere near land because you pop onto the game "NEAR" your last loacation but can be up to a mile away or on land if you are too close |

How is TMO and RSRD loaded? TMO first? Is it TMO 1.7? Do you have RSRD that is updated for TMO 1.7? TMO 1.7 has an enviromod already with the mod package. You have not loaded any other enviro mod or any other mod for that matter?

The game is a fresh, careful install on a new hard drive.
I have: TMO1.7 TMO Hot Fix TMO old Enviormentals (tried the game without this enabled and still have the same problem) Max Optics & Scaf fix RSRDC_TMO170_V411 Sun down is at 23:40 close to Japan. Is that correct, i can't remember?. Everything is fine as long as i restart the game before loading it back.

well its funny because for some it has never been an issue yet for others you have to be very carefull. with my old P4 i had save issues but not with my Q6600 avgwarhawk and rockin robbins are ones who have reported to naver have issues no matter how they save yet i would say 60-70% do. my own idea on this is it seems older or marginal systems are the most prone to having the save problems and better newer systems seem to be immune to it. |

Even so, I would really like to see a return of the "local time" display that was a part of the SH3 interface. Otherwise, we're going to see all of these "why is it dark when it's 1500 in the afternoon posts" all over again with SH5. :rotfl:

Hello,
don't know whether it could have something to do with the regional settings ? Playing CFS3 and OFF there is a problem with the "." and "," values and its internal calculations, range and time can be totally messed up depending on whether you have a US, or european disk of CFS3, along with you OS system settings. - Only an idea .. ![]() It looks like they orignally planned it that way. In SH3 to see the local time and date you just put the cursor over the main 'Time' display. In SH4 you can do that too, but instead of 'Local Time' the new display says 'Base Time', and shows the same thing. Very curious.

I would rather see the game remain historically accurate and the subs be on base time, even if they are halfway around the world. Questions like this don't bother me. Wanting to make the game unrealistic does.
